Electronic waste has become a grave threat to the health of our planet. Rapid advancement in electronics makes them obsolete at a rate at which their safe disposal is not being undertaken. Inappropriate disposal can lead to pollution of sub-soil and underground water. All this makes recycling all the more essential. Saving our planet has become the prime responsibility of us all. Today, tackling the ever growing menace of electronic waste is to be taken urgently. Electronic waste is the term used to describe discarded electrical or electronic devices. It includes discarded computers, office electronic equipment, entertainment device electronics, mobile phones, television sets, air conditioning units and refrigerators. This diversion is attained through reuse and refurbishing of electronic goods to the extent possible. Reusing has its own environmental and social benefits. Advantages of reusing include reduced demand for new products, preservation of resources like pure water and electricity for associated manufacturing, reduction in packaging per unit, accessibility of technology to wider section of society due to increased affordability of products and reduction in use of landfills.
