The Callaway Big Bertha Driver Diablo is a modern and stylish looking golf club, and has been available to buy since early 2009. The lofts that are available for the club are 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13 degree, all are available in right hand. However only the 10 degree, and 9 degree are available in left hand. Standing over the Diablo Driver at address, you notice that it does have a slightly unusual head shape. A bit more triangular than you’d normally expect to see on a Driver, and perhaps not every golfer will like the look, but we thought it set up pretty well. The standard red shaft got a mixed view here, but it’s something you can get past if the club gives you the performance you’re after. The standard Diablo-DVS shaft comes in light, regular, and stiff flex. We tested the 10 degree neutral model, equipped with the stiff flex Diablo shaft. Even as early as the first strike with the Diablo, we found that the club produced a very high ball speed off the face, the golf ball really flies off at impact. Resulting in quite impressive distance which was hard not to notice, even on the bad swings, that all of us can make from time to time, this club was still long. Another good quality noticed was that the club is quite accurate, and very rarely sends a drive way off line. Any punishment in a moderate mis-hit is reduced because of the more forgiving sweet spot on the Callaway Big Bertha 460 Driver face of the Diablo, even when you try to smash the golf ball, this Driver still gives impressive accuracy that you can trust. Despite the good forgiveness, working the golf ball from the tee actually wasn’t overly difficult with Callaway Big Bertha Driver Diablo. It does take abit of effort, but the neutral version does give you quite alot of control of the golf ball, and playing either a high fade or a low draw, shouldn’t pose much difficulty for capable players. Overall this club is genuinely very enjoyable to drive a golf ball with, and certainly from what we saw, can really make playing golf alot of fun. In our opinion there isn’t really a bad thing to be said about this offering from Callaway. If you’re looking for a long driver that is also considerably forgiving, then this is definitely a club worth looking at. Both draw and neutral versions are avilable for the Callaway Big Bertha 460 Driver , and in todays driver market, they’re reasonable value for money in comparison to some of the competition. Generally at most retailers, as of 2011 you can expect to pay around £129 or $198 for the Callaway Big Bertha Driver Diablo brand new. And if this is a Driver that you like, there is also fairway woods, hybrids and irons available in the Diablo range aswell.
