Every year a large number of Muslims from all over the world travel to Mecca in Saudi Arabia to perform the holy obligation of umrah. Umrah is primarily an Arabic word. Umrah is usually such a spiritual travel which remains memorable for most of the Muslims who perform this most significant journey of their lives. A pilgrim has to perform several rituals during performance of his umrah travel. Most of those umrah rituals were first performed by Prophet Abraham (PBUH), his 2nd wife Hajirah and their elder son Ishmael. Thus Muslims perform these rituals as a symbol of their association with Prophet Abraham and his family. Islam claims to be a continuity of monotheistic teachings of Prophet Abraham (PBUH) and his sons Ishmael and Isaac. Umrah pilgrimage can be performed in Makkah at any time of the year except during 9th to 13th of the month of Zil-Hajjah because during these days only hajj can be performed. For performing umrah, first of all pilgrims have to come into the state of Ahraam. Ahraam is a state in which a pilgrim has to wear two simple white clothes after bathing. After wearing Ahraam, pilgrims can not hunt, kill any insect or have sexual intercourse with their wives. When pilgrims enter into the Grand Mosque of Makkah (Masjid-ul-Haraam), theyu perform tawaaf of Holy Kaaba in the Holy Mosque of Makkah. Tawaaf of Holy Kaabah is performed in forms of seven circles in the anti-clockwise direction while reading different supplications taught by Prophet Muhamamd (PBUH) to Muslims. In the first three rounds, pilgrims walk stiffly and quickly around the Holy Kaaba which is known as “Raml”. After performing Tawaf, pilgrims have to do Sa’I between two hills of Safa and Marwah which are situated near the Grand Mosque of Makkah. After performing Sai between two hills, men pilgrims shave their heads and women trim their hair which shows that they are now free from sins of their previous lives and now they take oath to start a new life under the obedience of Allah (S.W.T). After performing all umrah rituals, pilgrims take off their Ahraam and start preparing for their travel to Madinah Munawwarah. Madinah is the second holiest city in the world for Muslims after Makkah where Prophet’s Mosque also known as Masjid-e-Nabwi is located. Madinah is located in the north of Makkah city. Pilgrims offer prayers in Madinah and visit Prophet Muhammad’s grave over there. As umrah is a spiritual journey consisting of several days therefore, it is very difficult to arrange all umrah requirements at your own. Fortunately, now, there are umrah services provider agencies all over the world which provide all those services which are required for performing umrah obligation. All you have to do is to book an umrah packages which suits your needs best. You can find cheap umrah packages by searching online and compare services in details provided in each umrah package. Probably, the most important factors to consider while choosing umrah packages is to see the distance of your place of accommodation from the Holy Mosque and standard of transport provided for visiting historical and religious places.
