Kristin Kreuk may seem as the girl next door in the CW's Smallville, but she is about to get superpowered in an upcoming film, where she is to take the titular lead role. She'll be beating up the bad guys in the film Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, which is based on the popular video game franchise. Playing the martial-arts warrior princess, Kristin Kreuk is about to get ready to kick major ass. If the movie sounds familiar, it's probably because the screenplay was written by Justin Marks, who also wrote the upcoming films based on Masters of the Universe and Voltron. Street Fighter fans would not forget the 1994 film based on the original games, which featured Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile and the late Raul Julia as M. Bison. Future ER star Ming Na played Chun-Li in said film. Chun-Li first became popular for being the first playable female in a one on one fighting game, and despite being one dimensional in the games, she is known to be the world's strongest women. How's that for power? As for Kristin Kreuk, this may be a challenge to overcome, as her sweet looks may not live up to the brawny Chun-Li. Unlike the previous film which centered on Guile as the main character, this version will definitely revolve around Chun-Li and her journey to becoming a legendary fighter. Unlike the previous movie which offered a pathetic plot, this one promises to make more sense and focus on the characters and their story. Action is guaranteed, topped with a lot of martial arts. Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li is set to be directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak, who honestly does not have many successful films under his belt. He has previously directed Doom, which is also based on a video game, and Cradle 2 the Grave and Romeo Must Die.
