THE ORIGIN OF RELICS The Catholics believe that the concept of relics is scriptural. How? We may wonder! Can True Christianity have anything to do with the relics of the Roman Catholic Church, a tradition drawn from paganism? One wonders why our faith should be shifted from Christ, our Savior to the reverence and worship of mere demonic infested materials which has no bearing with Christianity. The scriptures in Romans 1:21-32 exposes indeed the attributes of the apostate Roman Catholic Church as a cage full of abomination and full of lies. We have a choice now either to believe them and go to hell or denounce them and run to the canopy of Christ. Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. Rom 1:21-32KJV The whole concept of relics is a lie and full of lies. The scripture states in John 8:44 that the devil is a liar and the father of lies so he can afford to perform lying wonders in the hands of his false prophets in order to deceive and catch the unaware brethren. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. John 8:44-45KJV One of the foremost examples given by the Catholics to advance their claims or beliefs that relics are scriptural is the case of the woman who had a hemorrhage for twelve years. During the period she sold all that she had to the physicians to cure herself but could not be heal. Seeing Jesus in the crowd, she thought within herself that if she could touch the hem of His garment she shall be made whole. Jesus who felt that power had gone out of him turned to the woman and said to her that her faith had made her whole. The concept of the Roman Catholic Relics is based on the following claims: 1. That as a physical being she needed a physical remedy. 2. As the woman received her healing based on her faith being glued to the garment of Jesus, so should the relics of the Catholic saints do same. This is the basics of clothing and hair of Catholic saints being declared Relics. There is a recent dimension of relics called the ‘incorruptible’. The Catholics claimed that these relics are the actual bodies of some Catholic saints who died over 500 years ago that had not decayed. Such claim has no scientific proof. The scripture states that man is formed from the dust of the ground and immediately he dies and is buried, he returns to the dust. There cannot be bodies of saints who have died 500years ago and not decayed. Let us examine the passage in Mark 5:25-34 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. Mark 5:25-34KJV

Here a woman that had a constant flow of blood for twelve years went through many things in the hands of many physicians and had made use of several drugs and method’s they prescribed; but after she had spent all she had, the physicians gave her up as incurable. It is usual with people not to apply themselves to Christ until they have come to the end of themselves. This woman was then determined, focused and had strong faith in Christ Jesus. When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. She struggled her way through the crowd and went behind and touched the hem of Jesus’ garment and immediately felt the flux of blood dried up and she felt perfectly well. Jesus Christ knew in himself that virtue had gone out of Him and being desirous to meet with her screamed “who touched me.” The disciples answered Him thus: And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? Though many people thronged on Jesus only one touched Him. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. Jesus Christ commended and encouraged her faith by saying: Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. This woman did not have her faith first on the hem of Jesus’ garment because she had lost hope on everything physical but on Jesus Christ. Secondly, she must have been ashamed of openly meeting with the Lord considering her entire situation but in a quiet disposition believed that even a secret touch of His garment could cause her healing. If her act of faith in Christ could be interpreted by the Catholics to mean that the hem of Jesus garment had the healing powers to effect cure why was it reported that many people thronged on Him but no one touched Him except this woman? There were certain conditions or state of her soul which was beyond the state of merely touching Jesus ‘ garment or hands or any part of Jesus’ body because thousands of people must have attempted other ways to getting the virtue out of Jesus but could not. We would submit the following: a] This woman had attempted all the ways she knew for twelve years to cure her decease and had spent all she had and now realized that her healing could only be received through Christ Jesus. She had truly come to the end of herself. Like the man who became hopeless after 38years of struggle for one to carry him into the water; for it was said that when an angel comes to shake the waters, anyone at that instants who first dropped himself in the water will be made whole. This man also came to the end of himself. When man reaches the end of himself the Lord often brings out His helping hands to save man. b] The woman’s focus was on Christ. She was in the spirit that was why Jesus who walked in the spirit was able to identify her search for Him but waited until she accomplished what was in her mind thus received her healing. Blind Bartimaeus was in the spirit when he cried out with a loud voice and said: “Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.” Jesus stood still, sent for him and healed him. c] Jesus described that woman as “Daughter” showing that the woman had a spiritual relationship with Christ to have earned her that healing. The scripture in Matthew 15:22-28 also confirms this thought. And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. Matt 15:22-28KJV

Christ casted out devils from the daughter of the woman of Canaan. Canaan was part of the Gentile world and they were known pagans. The scriptures in Luke 2:32 revealed that the coming of Jesus was to lighten the Gentile world and the healing of the daughter of the Canaanite woman was a gleam of that light. And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. Luke 2:27-32KJV This woman was a Gentile, a stranger to the common wealth of Israel. She cried to Christ as one in earnest need. She related her misery to Christ of how her daughter was tormented by the devil and requested for mercy and said: have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David. When this woman continued her importunity, she got a reply of both a repulse and a reproach from Jesus. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. Jesus established the fact that healing and miracles are the children’s bread. The Gentiles being pagans were often looked upon by the Jews with great contempt and were counted as dogs. Jesus explained to this woman of Canaan that it is not proper to give what belongs to the family to pagans. Therefore whatever mystery or miracle the relics seem to demonstrate is from the pit of hell and not from God. This woman quickly acknowledged her poor, miserable and humble state and requested even for the crumbs that fell from the master’s table. Her strong faith earned her the privilege of partaking in the children’s bread. We can draw a meaningful conclusion here that faith and an undistracted loyalty to Christ will earn whosoever comes to Christ the portion of the children’s bread. If relics were truly of God there would have been evidence in the scriptures to show for it. The use of relics is one of the greatest superstitions and deception of Romanism that has eaten deep and engraved in the heart of the Catholics. It will take God to scrap out these idolatrous deep seated coatings from the soul of Catholics in order to stop them from believing in these pagan and demon infested relics being passed around from church to church in recent times. The most recent and highly venerated relics apart from the “incorruptible” being displayed before the Catholics, is the “true cross” scattered throughout Europe and other parts of the world being traded upon for Catholic faithful members to buy, believe, reverence and worship. So many of this bit and pieces of the cross in our generation have reached the hands of Catholics. Because it was classified as the “true cross” of Jesus Christ many millions of faithful members have purchased and believed in the demonic powers therein. Beloved if we have a piece of that “true cross,” we should know that we have just been duped for lack of knowledge. All those medium of worship we have placed on our home altars are all channels that lead one to covenant ties with the devil and his cohorts. Please let us quickly get rid of them from our homes and burn them. It is impossible to get to Jesus Christ or God through these relics or mediums because such practices portray us as idolaters and no idolater can enter into the kingdom of God. It is believed that several tons of this “true cross” have been so far sold out to faithful members which may be more than the quantity of goods that could fill a ship load or two. Could it then mean that as the “true cross” is been sold out in bits and pieces, granting that it was discovered, it kept multiplying itself or the old rugged cross never dies? The Lord Jesus Christ knew how this wicked generation and idolaters would seek for something to worship to make alive the cross claimed to be the one used to nail Him, so He ensured to be crucified with two thieves one hung on his left and the other on His right hand. The Lord said that His last words on the cross were “It is finished.” The price has been paid and He is no more on the cross. Whichever brand of cross being paraded around, hung in the church or fixed at the church premises, hospitals are those of the thieves therefore the curse attached to a cross becomes effective at those places. Whenever we submit our self to receive the sign of the cross on our forehead, the scripture reveals that we received a curse and not a blessing. A Cross is a Curse and not a blessing. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: Gal 3:13KJV If the pieces of the “true cross” could sum up as much then it would not have been possible to be carried by Jesus Christ. This could not be the truth. Let us list out some of the items classified as relics and examine them in good conscience if we should reverence and worship these corruptible things instead of the living God. The scripture reveals in 1Peter 1:18-23 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever. 1 Peter 1:18-23KJV

We wonder how spiritual things could be illustrated with such natural things. The scripture states in 1Corinthians 2:14-16 that the natural man cannot But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:14-16KJV There is another strange Catholic belief that surrounds Mary that her body ascended to heaven the same way Jesus Christ ascended to heaven. In fact from the Catholic encyclopedia, we are told the words of St Bernard which summed up the Catholic position: “On the third day after Mary’s death when the apostles gathered around her tomb, they found it empty. The sacred body had been carried up to the celestial paradise… the grave had no power over one who is immaculate…. But it was not enough that Mary should be received into heaven. She was to be no ordinary citizen…. She had a dignity beyond the reach even of the highest of the Archangels. Mary was to be crowned Queen of Heaven by the eternal Father: She was to have a throne at her Son’s right hand… Now day by day, hour by hour, she is praying for us, obtaining graces for us, preserving us from danger, shielding us from temptation, showering down blessings upon us” All these lies and formulations about Mary are drawn from the belief that she bodily ascended into heaven but the scriptures says absolutely nothing about the assumption of Mary. To the contrary the scripture states thus in John 3:13: And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. John 3:13 KJV Jesus Christ himself is the only one that is at the right hand of God. He is the only mediator between God and man. He is the only one that sees all things and knows all things to reward every one according to his work. Therefore He is the only one that can shower blessings on us. In the Roman Catholic Church it is believed that the placing of bones beneath a church or other relics is required to “consecrate” the ground or the building. It is sad to narrate the experience of a beloved brother in the Catholic Church. His father was a known herbalist who often visits the grave yard to evoke souls of the dead for consultations and to send them on errands. Thus he was a powerful man in his on operations. This brother claimed that his father hated the Catholic Church and calls them deceivers because he often met with priests at graveyards doing the same thing and evoking spirits of dead men and women. This brother confessed to us that he was a faithful mass server working under the strict supervision of a stern priest. The priest does not tolerate lateness and indiscipline from the mass servers. This time around he was to be part of the servers to serve at the 6am Mass. With this awareness he slept and suddenly woke up by midnight and saw the brightness of the environment as he looked through the window and mistook it to be morning. He thought he was late for the 6am Mass, so he quickly dressed up and rushed out to the church. When he got to the church there was a high Mass already going on and the premises was fully occupied with cars. So he quickly ran inside the church and stayed at the upper place behind where he was able to sight clearly those who were servers since he felt he was late. He described the altar as being the same but saw different priests officiating of which he could only identify one who had died. After the benediction he claimed the lights instantaneously went off. He got frightened and ran out to face another shock in that all the vehicles had disappeared. He ran down to the priest’s apartment and fell down unconscious for some hours. When he got revived and described what he saw to the priest, he was told that he was very fortunate to have seen angels and saints and that they came to strengthen the “Altar stone,” a practice done once a year. Beloved this is pagan worship and cultism practiced in the guise of the Christian faith. It is time for us to arise and scrutinize the practices of the Catholic Church and place them where they belong. As Christians we cannot continue to shake hands with the devil and his cohorts and provoke God to jealousy. The scripture clearly stated thus in 2Corinthians 6:14-18: Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:14-18KJV These practices are not scriptural they are demonic from the pagan world. God has spoken pleading with us not to touch the unclean things but to be separated from them. All relics are an unclean thing and are an abomination unto the Lord. God cannot be a Father to us if we continue to touch these unclean things.
