CBS and Mark Burnett Productions have currently signed an agreement extending the broadcast of the much-loved reality TV series Survivor. According to the deal, the Emmy-awarded show is still up for two more seasons. And there’s another good news, long-time host Jeff Probst will be staying on the program, too. Probst’s previous contract, which he signed in December 2005, was only a two-year transaction. Ignoring reports that he will be leaving the show, he recently inked another contract that will bring him through the show’s 18th season. Probst is ecstatic. "I still get excited to get on the plane and travel to another exotic location with another group of adventure seeking, Type A personalities. It is without question the best job I've ever had," he said. Since it was launched in 2000, Survivor has been successful in holding the interest of its devoted fans. Even Probst is acknowledging the fact that the show’s longevity should be attributed to their loyal viewers. He said that it’s been a blessing that the fans stayed with them throughout the seasons. CBS executive Ghen Maynard believes that Survivor is a show that defies gravity. “It is truly remarkable feat to be winning your time period in all ratings categories after 15 editions," he said. In a statement he released to the public, he also credited the show’s success to the creativity and passion of Mark, Jeff and the whole production team. He mentioned that he is also thankful of the brilliant concept that continually introduces new casts and settings, which makes each season feel like a new series. Survivor is set to run its sixteenth season entitled Fans vs. Favorites. As the title implies, it will be a between battle fans of the show and past stars. It is scheduled to air on February 7. According to reports, casting for the 17th cycle of the show has already begun.
