Carrie Underwood shone once again on the recently concluded 50th Grammy Awards held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles . The ceremony was held February 10 and the American Idol winner bagged home the Best Female Country Vocal Performance award for her song “Before He Cheats.” Underwood edged out singers Alison Krauss, Miranda Lambert, LeAnn Rimes and Trisha Yearwood. Donning a floral-print Zuhair Murad dress, Underwood also performed “Before He Cheats” live onstage during the event. Underwood hasn’t forgotten the people who have contributed to her success. She thanked American Idol once more for giving her the exposure and the opportunity to make it. Joining and winning in the season 4 of the reality TV talent search got her career started, and Underwood never fails to recognize and acknowledge this fact. She has always been vocal on how thankful she is for the show’s effect on her career. Ever since being crowned as the program’s champion in 2005, he journey to stardom became unstoppable. Just last year, she also received two awards from the Grammy’s – Best New Artist and Best Female Country Vocal Performance for the song “Jesus, Take The Wheel.” The then newcomer in the music industry won over fellow nominees Chris Brown, Corinne Bailey Rae, James Blunt and Imogen Heap. Underwood became the second country artist to ever win a Best New Artist Award. The first country artist to achieve the same title was LeAnn Rimes way back in 1997. In the 2007 Academy of Country Music awards, Underwood also won Album of the Year, Video of the Year, and Female Vocalist of the Year. Underwood was recognized as Breakthrough Artist of the Year by the American Music Awards in 2006. In the same year, she took home five trophies from the Billboard Music Awards. She won Album of the Year, Top 200 Female Artist of the Year, Female Country Artist, New Country Artist, and Country Album of the Year.
