Recently, the Green Arrow made his way back to Smallville for the first time in over a year. His comeback has left fans buzzing, and the fact that the viewers had well-received the character has led the CW to sign Green Arrow himself, Justin Hartley to a talent holding deal. The talent holding deal does not necessarily mean guarantee Hartley a CW project, but the network will definitely make it a point to create a role for the actor until the deal runs out. Does this mean that he's going to wear the Green Arrow costume for a longer period of time? Smallville has already featured a number of popular characters from the DC Comics over the years, but have not came close to creating a spin-off with the featured character. The network only developed Mercy Reef, which was sort of an Aquaman project starring Hartley as the undersea adventurer. Once the pilot was completed, the CW did not pick it up as a series, instead it was released online. It didn't create enough buzz to get re-launched. Since then, Smallville spin-off ideas have been kept in a box up in the attic. No one bothers, and no one tries. This may be odd as Smallville is filled with characters who can, on their own, carry a series. Hopefully with Hartley on board, they could cook up a series which would be a success, and not drown out like Aquaman did. A two-time ditch would probably hurt for Hartley, as he seems to be a very promising young actor with a full career ahead of him. Whether or not he will don the Green Arrow outfit again, fans can't wait to see more of the actor as he graces our television screens. Fans will have to watch out for his return on the CW.
