Honda Jazz is a premium segment hatchback which was rolled-out in the Indian auto market in year 2009, as the first Honda hatchback in the mass segment. However, the Jazz model wasn’t able to capitalize on the initial momentum gained by it due to its comparatively higher price tag. With its launch in India, the Honda Jazz had become the most expensive premium segment hatchback with carrying a price tag in the range of Rs 6.5 to 7.5 lakh. Soon after its launch in India, the car proved a flop in the country due to its extravaganza price tag. However, learning a lesson or two from its competitors like Volkswagen and Skoda, Honda launched a new trimmed down version of Jazz in India in August 2011. The new Jazz facelift models are considerably cheaper as compared to the previous generation Jazz, available in the price segment of Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 6.07 lakh (ex showroom Delhi price). Besides a higher price tag, one more major factor behind the failure of the Honda Jazz hatchback in the Indian auto market has been its unavailability in the diesel version. With the price of petrol is skyrocketing, a large number of buyers are shifting towards diesel run cars. All competitors of the Honda Jazz including Hyundai i20 and Skoda Fabia are available in both petrol and diesel versions. As far as engine is concerned, the Honda Jazz is a powerful car that comes equipped with a 1.2L, 1198cc, 4-cylinder engine. The power-packed engine of the Honda Jazz delivers a peak output of 90PS power @ 6200 rpm along with a peak torque of 110 Nm torque @ 4800 rpm. A five speed manual transmission gearbox is standard with the car. The Honda Jazz will soon be launched in a 1.5L version in India. Performance wise, the new Honda Jazz Facelift offer a perfect combination of high power and mileage. The car delivers 90 bhp of power along with an ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) certified mileage of 16.7 km per liter. It takes just over 11 seconds to break the speed barrier of 100 km per hour, with a top speed of 165 km per hour. Besides a powerful engine, the second major attraction of new Jazz is its charismatic exterior designing that carry a unique combination of aggression and boldness. Exterior of the car is blessed with a sporty aerodynamic bumper & fender, tail gate spoiler, ellipsoidal glass area, etc. Inside, the Honda Jazz is designed to offer a superb utility to the owners with flexibility of magic seat feature through which the seats can be adjusted very easily if required. The other attractions inside the car include amber colored instrument cluster, Rear AC vents, Adjustable Driver Seat, Tilt-able Steering mounted with Audio Controls, Power Door Lock, Power Rear View Mirror, Beige /Blue black interior and many more. The Honda Jazz is currently one of the safest hatchbacks in the Indian auto market, carrying a range of new age active and passive safety features including Dual Front SRS Airbags, ABS (antilock braking system) with Brake Assist and EBD (electric brake force distribution), G-CON (G Force Control Technology) for pedestrian safety, ECU Immobilizer, Driver Side Auto Pinch Guard, Rear Windshield Defogger, Day/Night Side Rear View Mirror, Rear Wiper and Active Headrests.
