Chikhaldhara is located in the Amravati district of Vidarbha region, state of Maharashtra. Chikhaldhara hill station is ornamented with many treasure troves of Mother Nature. This native hill station of Vidarbha region has abundance of wildlife, deep valleys, panoramic view points, placid lakes and showering waterfalls. Apart from its natural attractiveness, this place also has a very fascinating history. According to the myths, Chikhaldhara name has been derived from 'Keechaka'. It is the place where Bheema of Mahabharata has end the life of wicked Keechaka and threw him into the valley. Hence, this place got the name "Keechakadara", which later become popular as "Chikhaldara".

Chikhaldara is located at an altitude of 3650 feet above the sea level. Chikahaldhara is blessed with gratifying weather which helps it to earn the name of only “coffee-growing” area in the state. This summer resort has eternal arrays of tourist spots which will certainly charm your attention at the very first glance. Some of the best visiting tourist spots of Chikhaldhara are Malviya or Sunrise Point, Government Garden, Shakkar Lake, Gawilgarh Fort, Goraghat Point, Amner Fort and Narnala Fort.

Chikhaldhara is also a paradise for wildlife admirers. It has one of the most popular national parks of India known as Gugumal National Park and a natural place for Indian Tigers named as Melaghat Tiger Reserve. These natural surroundings are home to various wildlife species such as Crocodile, Tiger, Bison, Neelgai, Gawa, Sambar Wild deer and a legion of migratory birds. So to showcase these beauties of Chikhaldhara to the whole world, Maharashtra Tourism Board launches every year Chikhaldhara festival. This festival offers an fabulous opportunity to see the collection of local arts and artifacts, cultural events and also the chance to participate in adventure activities such as rock climbing and para-gliding. One can enjoy the gratifying events by opting holidays my way .

There are many places that offer exciting views of the Chikhaldara and some of them are Hurricane Point, Prospect Point and Devi Point. There are some good places to stay nearby as well. Maharashtra Tourism Department resorts are the best place to live-in and they also arrange forest safaris as well.

Chikhaldara can be reached easily by road. Taxis and buses and are the major transportation ways to reach this place. Chikhaldara tour package does not have it's own railway station but it is located in the neighborhood. The closest city is Amravati, which is nearly 100 km.

The nearest airport to Chikhaldara is situated at Akola. This is located nearly 150 km from the place. Taxis can be rented from the airport. Another nearest airport is Nagpur that is around 250 km from Chikhaldara. The closest railway station is situated at Badnera, which lies on the Central Railway Line. Chikhaldara is also well connected by buses to many nearby places including Amravati, Nagpur, Akola, Wardha and many other major cities in the state. You can avail holiday packages from travel companies. Not only the air tickets, you can also avail online bus booking services, train tickets and even hotel accommodations.
