Types of air conditioners

Business
Air conditioner sales have increased dramatically over the last years, being considered one of the best investments for a household or an office building of any kind. Although air conditioners are generally used for cooling an area, in the field of constructions, however, the usual term used is HVAC, referring to a system that combines heating, ventilation and air conditioning. The AC unit, which is a common abbreviation for air conditioner, is basically any type of mechanism or system that can be used to dehumidify an area, thus extracting the heat and cooling it. The maintenance of the home appliance is not difficult at all, air conditioner cleaning referring practically to a periodical air filter cleanse. When you decide to purchase such a cooling system, you need to keep in mind that there are many types and maybe do a little research to find the most appropriate one for your area. Unitary systems are the most common one, but there are also PTAC systems, which go by the name of ductless air conditioners.

The AC unit manages to cool any given area by making use of a refrigeration cycle, in which the heat is being transferred by a heat pump. The transfer occurs opposite from the natural flow of heat, meaning from a source of lower-temperature to one of higher-temperature, called a heat sink. This is basically how a refrigerator works as well, being the most common type of system. Air conditioner sales have first been directed towards industrial processing, but soon the advantages of residential use have surfaced, and two main types of air conditioner for rooms prevailed. The unitary air conditioners is the first of the two, more commonly met than the other, usually placed in a wall or a window opening. The unit can be controlled from the interior, as the air is cooled by a fan which blows the air over an evaporator, making the heat from the room pass in the outside environment. As the units come in different sizes and capacities, a big office building or a large estate may need several unitary systems in different rooms. Fortunately, the unitary air conditioner cleaning is hassle free, as you need only to remove the filter and the front grille and just use a brush to remove dust and mold.

The second type is the PTAC system or the ductless air conditioners. They are hotels' favourites and are made up of two separate units. Their main advantage is that they can also provide heat in cold weather, being transformed into heat pumps. The process can be done in two ways, with the help of an electric strip or gas and by reversing the flow of the refrigerant as to release heat in the inside. The evaporation unit of the ductless air conditioners is placed on the interior, while the condensing one is outside.

The residential air conditioner sales have very different aspects in different countries and regions of the world, especially in large cities from hot regions. In Japan, for instance, the window AC units register the most sales, while in Israel all households use the split kind. As far as US is concerned, the most popular type of air conditioning used is the central air system.
