Single Flute or Two Flute End Mill?
Many clients ask us when they cut materials, should better select single flute or two flute end mill spiral bits, which can get best working performance?
In fact, there is not fixed answer according to various material quality and different hardness. But our professional technicians can give you some useful suggestions on general machining situation, based on rich experience and plenty of test conclusion. 1. Aluminum plate processing, single flute aluminum-specialized milling cutter is advised. The advantage is: there is no blade burning and sticky, with faster speed, and higher efficiency.
2. Soft wood, MDF, originalwood, PVC, large scale acrylic deep relief carving sculpturing, we kindly suggest single flute spiral ball nose mill.
3. High precision small size relievo embossment, ball-end carbide cutting tools are better selection. 4. MDF cutting machining, 2 flute spiral router bit of big chip removal ability are great option.
Because this end mill bit has 2 high-capacity chipgroove; Two flute design, not only provides very good chip cleaner function, but also can reach good tools balance. Especially while processing medium and high density MDF board, it has advanced features of no blackening, no smoke, long service life, and so on.
5. To solid wood and high-density plank, you could use edge end mill set.
6. If rough machining flakeboard, you can apply more streak spiral endmill cutter.
7. Above and upper sides no burr cutting work, single flute or two flute end mills will be good choice. And down-cut tools application effect is: without burr on processed material surface; Workpieces will not shake or raise up during working. 8. 2 straight flutes mill bits perform well at carving milling machining on composite board / plywood.
9. To acryl glass mirror engraving, diamond engraving tools are more suitable.

During cutting process, the key features of single flute are: no smoke, fast speed, highly efficient, no blade stick, no crack edges guaranteed by special manufacturing technology, extremely fine cut lines (even no cutter marks), and smooth bright outlines. If you also demand the polishing working performance, then you could have good try of 2 flute /3 flute spiral milling bits.
11. Helpful tips:
You may find that, 2 flutes do not break, while 1 flute break sometimes on woodworking CNC router machine, but why? The main reason is: the load-carrying capability of single flute mill is smaller than two flutes bit;
If processed materials are thicker, two flute end mill are better for applied demand;
But to thinner workpieces, single flute cutter is even better, because it has advanced advantages of good chip-removal ability, and avoid tools sticky condition effectively.
