Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder in which a patient experiences lapses in breathing while asleep. These breathing pauses usually last for 30 seconds or longer. Because this condition causes oxygen deficiency in the brain, it is considered to be one of the most harmful sleeping disorders ever discovered. Compared to insomnia, this sleeping disorder poses a serious threat, especially to those patients who have sensitive heart conditions and respiratory issues. CPAP machines are what experts often recommend to sleep apnea sufferers. CPAP is an equipment that can be used to regulate the supply of air that goes in the body by using a mask which is attached to the nose area. Not all CPAP machines are created equal. There are several factors to consider before buying the perfect machine to help combat breathing related sleeping disorders. Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder that should not be taken lightly. Unfortunately, this is one of those sleeping disorders that are not easily diagnosed simply because the patient is unaware of it, unlike with insomnia. Like with most sleeping disorders, the symptoms only occur during sleep. Only their loved ones are able to observe what happens during sleep. Because the air pathways are blocked, the air is forcefully squeezed through them, resulting in loud snoring. When looking for a CPAP machine, the buyer must look for quality, portability, and simplicity of usage. First, the equipment should be lightweight and must be made from durable materials. Second, it must be small enough to fit anywhere around the house so it shouldn't be too bulky. Third, the machine should be user friendly, with simple settings that can be understood by anyone. A good CPAP machine is the key to alleviating the symptoms of any sleep disorder. It should be efficient and must work throughout the night without failure. It must also be able to deliver constant pressure without any issues. The mask is the key feature of this equipment and it should be comfortable, not too loose, nor too tight. If the mask is not right, the purpose of providing quality sleep to people with breathing related sleeping disorders will be defeated. Another thing to consider in selecting the CPAP machine is the humidifier. This determines the quality of air that enters the nostrils; therefore it is the most expensive element of the CPAP machine. When buying a CPAP machine, it is advised to never scrimp. It is better to invest in a machine that costs a little bit more but works than to buy something cheap but useless.
