What roots are to tress, what hometowns are to us! When we come to different places, do different things and make different friends, we will talk about our hometowns unconsciously. I was born in Jinjiang City, Fujian Province, which is famous for stones. Therefore, nearly every man in my hometown is engaged in processing stones. On the contrary, woman are acted the role of housewives and take good care of their children. Unfortunately, the quarries are becoming deeper and deeper, so it is danger to work on them. Often some pieces of bad news spread. For example, some people died or hurt suddenly when they were working. What is worse, the pollution is more and more serious and it is hard for us to live in. Look, the dirty water from the stone factories are poured into the clean rivers, the waste gases are discharged and the waste residues are put here and there. It is said that many people in my hometown die of cancer in recent years. As we know, cancer is a terrible disease that is difficult to deal with. However, many of our local residents say that it is fateful to end their life at a certain time. To be honest, I quite disagree with them and believe that our dirty land, water and air are fatal to our valuable life. Recently, our local government forbad people to extract stones, which is a dangerous project so as to improve our environment and life. Nevertheless, our local men lost their jobs and couldn’t make a living any longer in my hometown. Therefore, they leave home and head for Shan Dong, which has many mines too. According to the government, it is a tendency to end stone industry in my hometown and men should look for better jobs in other industries. At first sight, people in my hometown couldn’t accept government’s policy, for they have relied on mines from one generation to another. But later on, they realize that the environment they live in is much important! In my opinion, it is reasonable for my brother to change his job, for it is really dangerous for him to work on the mine in the evening. Do you have some information about your hometown and stone?
