India issues three types of passports for International Travel. The most common regular type is issued to rightful citizens of India. The second type is issued to its diplomats going on International mission or related foreign tours. The citizen should comply with certain condition before he or she can be accepted as Indian Citizen. Merely residing in the country does not make eligible a person to qualify as Indian. However if the Government deems necessary in public interest the Indian Passport can be issued to a person who is not a citizen of India. In case of diplomatic passport the person should be a constitutional authority or a high ranking Government employee in service. Such privileged passport is given to Government employees posted outside the country on a diplomatic mission. There are many countries which do not require visa for diplomats. Some countries do not require visa for all classes of passport holders. The diplomatic and official passports can be through the office of Consular Passport and Visa Division under the Ministry of External Affairs. The application in this case could be filed online or at CPV Division office in New Delhi. Recently biometric passport facility is available to diplomats, and high ranking Government authorities. The application form and documentation required for diplomatic or official passport vary. In case of reissue the certificate of safe custody of earlier diplomatic/official passport has to be submitted along with the application. Some of the accepted identity proofs are Indian pan card issued by IT Dept, driving license, ration card, voting card and Uid or Aadhar card.
