Ppi reclaims are on the rise and creating quite a stir amongst those in the UK. Millions of people have been mis sold payment protection insurance. They either didn't need it, didn't qualify for it or couldn't afford it. The banks were using some pretty strong arm and sneaky tactics to get borrowers to sign up for PPI. Some people are not even aware of the fact that they bought payment protection insurance when they took out a loan. Some lenders were that sneaky. However, now people have the right now to reclaim their PPI premiums and it is all thanks to a High Court ruling. The court has ruled that the banks took advantage of their borrowers so now they have to let their customers know that they are entitled to get a reimbursement for their PPI premiums they have paid over the last 10 years or so. This ruling happened at least a year ago but some people are just now hearing about the PPI scandal and their rights to reclaim the premiums they have paid. Borrowers should be contacted by their banks about PPI reclaims. However, if you have taken out a loan or gotten a credit card in the last 10 years you might want to go over your paper work now to see if you are entitled to PPI reclaims too. This is especially true if your bank has not called you or written a letter to you informing you of your rights to reclaim the PPI premiums you have paid them. Sometimes you have to force these banks to honor PPI reclaims and you may need the help of a PPI reclaims specialist. There are some basic steps people can take for PPI reclaims. First of all, it is important to get all of your paperwork together. Go over your loan agreements and see if you have PPI. If you do, contact the bank or financial institution and ask them about PPI reclaims and what to do next. If they put you off or you can't talk to someone about PPI reclaims, contact a PPI reclaims specialist. This would be a financial Ombudsman. You may also want to get legal counsel about PPI reclaims. If you contact an Ombudsman they will help you get started on making PPI reclaims.
