As soon as she was discovered, the remarkable statue of Venus de Milo has been recognized as the most beautiful statue among Greek statues of women so far. Called as the “God of love and beauty”, she has a dignified figure, plump skin and chin, beautiful oval face, Greek straight nose, flat forehead and calm expression, which exude the ideal art tradition of Greek sculptures. Look, her slightly torsional posture makes her half-naked body become very harmonious but elegant, which is just like a rising spiral. Hence, it gives us a rich sense of music and great charm. Besides, her legs but toes are covered by expressive folds, so it looks stable, which sets off her pretty upper body. On one hand, expressions and gestures are so solemn, lofty and dignified like a monument; on the other hand, she looks so elegant like a graceful and charming girl. Hence, people seem to feel that her mood was quite peaceful, pure and noble without any delicacy or shyness. Besides, the slight smile in her mouth gives us a sense of reserve and wisdom. Especially, her arms make us surprised. Although they have been uncompleted, her lively body still makes her perfect. Because of these two incomplete arms, this statue seems to arise people’s imagination and strengthen their taste of beauty. Instead of running after delicacy and exquisiteness, this statue adopts a simple way to reflect our body’s youth, beauty and our inner’s virtues. No matter from any angle to appreciate this statue, you will find that it is endowed with a unity and unique beauty, which is an idea beauty of classicism instead of sensual beauty reflected by most of Greek women sculptures. Full of endless poetry, it will make all works of body art eclipse at once. As to Venus de Milo, no one is possible or necessary to generalize a specific theme from his naked body, for she stands for truth, beauty and kindness at the same time. It is no deny that this statue is typical of ancient Greek sculptures and female beauty. She has surpasses time and space to express a gentle and graceful torsion of love. To be honest, I fall in love with this statue at first sight and can not help observing it for quite a long time. Now it has become a valuable treasure of Louvre.
