One night, when a group of African tribe started camping to have a good rest, suddenly they were enveloped by a bunch of dazzling light. At first, they were very afraid, but the old man told them that God would turn up soon. Therefore, they are filled with ardency to look forward to God’s arrival. Finally, God said, “You should pick up more cobblestones on the way and put them in your baggage. Tomorrow night, You will feel very happy and regretful at the same time.” After that, God disappeared, and shepherds were very disappointed with it. Because they had thought that God would bring endless wealth, health and long life to them, but instead, God ordered them to do such useless things. Nevertheless, it was God’s decree after all, so they had to pick up some cobblestones into their package even though they were unwilling to do that. Having walked for a day, they became to camp when the night fell. Suddenly they found every cobblestone that had been put in their baggage yesterday became diamond. They felt very happy, but meanwhile, they were regretful for not picking up morepebbles. In fact, we are like these shepherds in our daily life. When we do things, we often pay more attention to the outcome instead of the process. So we are unwilling to do something that looks like useless to us. But gradually we will find they are very useful and regret not doing it. Now I would like to share my experiences with you. When I graduated from university, originally I decided to have an internship in my middle school, where I could acquire experience of teaching. But one of my classmate told to me that you couldn’t make money at all if you had an internship there. On the contrary, if you got a job in a foreign trade company, you could also make full use of your knowledge and ability to earn much money. Hence, I gave up my dream of being a teacher firmly. However, when I was tired of working in the company, and decided to teach in a school, I was rejected because of my lacking of experience. Finally, I had no idea but chose to work in another foreign trade company again. After reading this article, are you keen to know more about cobblestones or diamond?
