To people’s surprise, there was a mysterious tower in Shashi Park. When this piece of news was reported, this tower started to draw much attention. Recently, many old people made an appointment to visit the old haunt so as to reveal the mystery of this tower. It was said that once this tower was used as turret during the Anti-Japaness War period, lighthouse of the dock, blockhouse of the general’s residence, landscape of church school. Water tower used by nuns, Japanese execution ground and so on. At the moment, many citizens talked about the stories and legends of this tower. In order to unveil the mystery of this tower, many journalists walked into it, but they couldn’t find the basis of tower’s status. Recently, journalists received telephones continuously from citizens, who were eager to know the details of the tower. A seventy-seven –year old man told a journalist that when he was 14 years old, he came to Shashi, and at that time the tower was inside a church. Instructed by the principal of the church, I often delivered letter to the tower, where he always met several nuns. Besides, there was a cross on the tower. In 1951, he joined the army and left Shashi. Twenty-four years later he returned to Shashi, but he couldn’t see the cross or the nuns. Another old man who lived in Hongmen Road, Shashi told that after he read the report of this tower, he recalled his youth immediately. In the 1960s, he was an ordinary worker of Shashi government. There were several small but deluxe villas near this tower. And he often had a walk in this ttower at that time, when he met his wife and dated her. According to his memory, the tower wasn’t so called battery or Japanese little execution ground, but it was a beautiful landmark inside the church. “I want to revisit this tower with my wife when we are free and relive that romance that we experienced together.” He said to the journalists. Meanwhile, there are also many other citizens making telephones to journalists actively and telling their stories with towers.
