When you pay a visit to European countries, you will find there are many old churches here and there. In fact, they are not only the places of religion, but also record a place’s history. These old churches have witnessed people’s birth, marriage and death from generation to generation. Besides, many famous people were burned in the churches, and their figures were painted on the church’s colorful glass. The history of a church itself is based on the ruins of its dwellings and stores and when was it destroyed and rebuilt, which is closely related to a place’s ups and downs. The churches’ colorful glass is like the Homer Epic, although they are arts, they have the function of telling history to ancient people. Hence, many ordinary illiterate people in the middle age knew history because of these colorful glasses. Now let’s take Cologne Cathedral for example. People began to build it in 1248, but had to shut down because of a lack of funds in 1560. Then it was reopened in 1800s, and was completed in 1880. During the second War, it was greatly damaged, but it was reopened in 1956 after renovation. Cologne Cathedral is located in one Rome’s grain shop, which once had an old church. The old church had been built for several years, but it was finally burned. The grandeur of Cologne Cathedral is very astonishing. In front of its door, there is a not small square. When standing on the square, I found the whole square is completely enveloped in the shadow of the church. Cologne Cathedral belongs to classis Gothic architecture, and it has high paired spire. Because the church is dark, so the image of tall spire is especially outstanding. I wonder if it’s for this reason, Cologne Cathedral has a sense of special purity. Nevertheless, this feeling becomes stronger when you are inside the church. Walking into the Church, one of my friends was moved to burst into tears even if she isn’t a believer. I leave her and walk around for a while, and then I saw an ancient cross, on which Jesus was nailed and had died. To be honest, I like to visit churches, because they always make me believe in beauty, peace and kindness. Finally, are you willing to share your opinions about churches with me? And are you interested in churches or stones? If you are, you can also visit stonebtb.
