Significant Effect of Urine of Your Pet in Carpet

Fashion & Cosmetics,Health,Home Improvement
When left alone, pet urine can seep through carpet, into the padding and down to the floor beneath. Pet urine can delaminate a carpet and can cause rotting of jute backing. Even after a thorough cleaning, pet urine stains and odors often remain.

Pet urine stains on carpet should be removed as early as possible. Any delay will cause the uric acid to crystallize on the rug and carpet. The effect will be permanent on the carpet.

Pet urine is an amber-colored liquid waste fluid excreted by the kidneys and is composed of waste products of protein metabolism. The color of pet urine and its staining potential will often depend on dietary habits, age and sex of the pet, whether the pet is on medication, and the health of the pet.

Unlike dogs, cats do not urinate for territorialism. This behavioral pattern in male cats is accomplished by spraying primarily on vertical surfaces. Although spraying is typically done on a vertical surface such as a couch and the walls) it could also conceivably come in contact with a carpet. Typically, because cat diets are richer in protein than dog diets, their urine will produce harsher odors and are more likely to cause stains. In almost all cases, cat urine is the worst perpetrator for pet urine stains and pet urine odors.

Another consideration is the age of the pet. The older the pet, the more renal function diminishes, thus producing urine that contains more plasma proteins. Because less uric acephalia is secreted in this urine, it is less likely to stain a carpet; however, it will produce an even stronger odor. Tips & Warnings

Urine is NOT bright white under a blacklight. Any stain that appears bright white is typically another substance such as a carpet cleaner or a spilled drink. The residue from these substances fluoresces brightly under a blacklight. Cats are rather sly animals and can maneuver into the smallest of spaces. Take your time and be thorough when checking your house. Locating the source of the animal urine smell is vital, and the earlier it's found, the better. Soaps and detergents should show up as bright white when using your black light. Try not to confuse the cleaners and the urine.

Pet urine odor has its own problem, namely gravity. Not only does the carpet get saturated with urine, but as it soaks through the carpet, it also soaks through the carpet cushion or pad. Pet urine stains on carpet should be removed as early as possible. Stains that have appeared within a couple of hours can often be cleaned with good success. This can be accomplished by taking immediate action. Blot up the urine immediately, then make a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water. Apply the solution with a spray bottle. After this, absorb the spot with clean white colorfast towels until it is as dry as possible. Next, place a one-half inch thick weighted layer of colorfast white towels over the spot and let it sit overnight. This final procedure must not be overlooked, since crystallized urine residues left in the carpet are capable of reproducing odors during the warmer more humid months.
