AUBURN HILLS, MI -- May 21, 2012 : Award cites Company's contribution to the economic advancement ofAsian Pacific Americans The Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce (APACC) presentedChrysler Group LLC with its Corporation of the Year Award atAPACC's eleventh annual dinner celebration Saturday evening in Rochester, Mich. Chrysler Group received the award for its long history of work "infacilitating resourceful and financially sound businessrelationships among U.S. and Asian based companies and for theCompany's devotion to the economic advancement of Asian PacificAmericans." "Chrysler Group values diversity and inclusion throughout ourenterprise," said Sig Huber, Director of Supplier Relations,Chrysler Group LLC, who accepted the award on behalf of theCompany. "We are honored to receive this award, as it shows thatour continuous efforts in embracing diversity are leading topositive economic outcomes in the community." The APACC Corporation of the Year Award was determined by a varietyof factors. |
In particular, Chrysler Group was honored for itsparticipation in community activities, minority management andminority employment. According to APACC, Chrysler Group also hasshown progress cultivating Asian Pacific American business andcommunities through purchases, meaningful referrals and mentorship. Since 1983, Chrysler has purchased more than $45 billion from certified minority-owned suppliers and its commitmentcontinues to grow. Earlier this month, the Company piloted aprogram in California that extends its best-practice Matchmaker supplier diversitypurchasing program to help improve dealer purchasing from minoritysuppliers, as well. The grantsupports Hispanic students who pursue a course of study thatfocuses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)fields and continued a longstanding relationship between TheChrysler Foundation and the HSF which began in 1986. Since thattime, HSF has received 25 grants from the Foundation totaling morethan $750,000 . Over the years, a long line of Chrysler Group employees havereceived important professional recognition from various diversityorganizations, including Black Engineer of the Year, Women ofColor, HENAAC Great Minds in STEM and others, reflecting theCompany's strong commitment to developing its diverse workforce.
