A boy lived in a slum of Rio de Janeiro and he enjoyed playing football very much. Born in a poor family, he couldn’t afford to buy it, so he kicked plastic boxes, pop bottles and coconut shell picked from the dustbin. He often kicked them in the lane or any open space that he could find. One day, when he was kicking a bladder in a dry pool, a football coach caught sight of it, and found he was potential to play football well, so he actively gave him a football. Once he received the football, the little boy practiced playing football more seriously, and before long he could kick the ball into a bucket in the long distance. When the Christmas came, his mother told him, “We had no money to buy Christmas gifts for our benefactor, so let’s pray for him.” After that, the boy asked his mother for a shovel, ran out and started digging in a garden, which was in front of a flat. When he was nearly finishing digging a hole, a person walked out of the flat and asked him what he was doing. The boy raised his face, which was full of sweat and said, “Dear coach, Merry Christmas day! I have no gift for you, and I am ready to dig a hole for your Christmas tree.” The coach pulled up the little boy from the hall and said, “Today I have got the best gift in the world, which is more precious than diamonds. Tomorrow you can follow me to my training ground. ” Three years later, this seventeen-year-old little boy scored 21 balls in the sixth world football championship and won the first golden cup for Brazil. Then the original unknown name-Bailey was spread across the world. After reading this short story, I have learnt much. In my opinion, the most quality of human beings is that we should be thankful for other people who help us sincerely. This society is like a big forest, and we are like a mountain of stones in it. We live in harmony with each other and nearly no one could live or succeed without communicating with others. Hence, we should be grateful for people who try their best to help us get rid of troubles, and we must make our every effort to help them when they are in need of us.
