There are two classes of legal conjugal partnership approved in the Land of Lincoln; namely marriages and the newly passed civil unions. The latter became a legal form of spousal partnership on June 1, 2011. That is why indexes will not be available from the Vital Records Division until June 1, 2012. At any rate, the Illinois Public Health Division can only provide indexes of both marital events and dissolutions. If you need certified document copies of Illinois Marriage Records or actual dissolution decrees, you can submit an application to the circuit court clerk in the county where the dissolution of nuptial or matrimony occurred. |
It is the main task of the Illinois Public Health Department to create and maintain statewide files of births, deaths, matrimonies, civil unions and dissolutions of nuptials or unions. Filed pieces of information on birth events and state deaths that are under the custody of the government office can date back to 1916. Files on statewide marriages available at the Department are events that happened from 1962 up to the present index date available. You can only order for verifications and not actual certificate copies from this office. If you need the actual nuptial certificate copy, you have to request that from the court clerk’s office in the municipality or city where it occurred.
For a $5 fee, you can get in touch with the Vital Records Division, and check whether or not a certain marital union has ever taken place in the state (lookup will cover information from 1962-current list on hand). You may apply for verification by regular mail service, fax, or by walk-in application. If not, you may drop in the local courthouse in which the married partners took their license. There is an index of circuit court registrars per county on the government portal in case you do not know their contact details.
Take note of the following details when ordering verifications for marriages: information regarding the document being sought (e.g. name of each spouse, their birth dates, the city/county and date the event occurred), valid credit card numbers, a day-time phone number, mailing address, and a clear photocopy of a valid photo identification. Naturally, you will get the needed item if you meet the requisites.
Check a wide array of government public records like criminal information, court filings, vital records and more online. Like other convenient and practical things that the modern age offers, there are excellent record lookup engines on the Web wherein you can carry out your investigative tasks like tracking your family tree, locating a missing family member, finding your old-time colleagues, checking backgrounds of individuals of interest and so forth.
Marriage Records are one of the most-wanted state assets when you need to search data on your ancestors or if you need to confirm the legitimate status of your potential marriage partner. Having unlimited access to a wealth of state files would certainly mean thorough knowledge on individuals you want to know. It will be speedy, convenient, and confidential being able to pull up records from anywhere you want, provided that you have an Internet-enabled computer or portable electronic device.
