Different people have different standards of spouse selection. Many successful businessmen wish to marry beautiful girls, but many charming girls wish to marry handsome boys. As an ordinary girl graduating from university, I wish to marry a boy who can share happiness and sorrow with me. When I was in the university, my families tried to persuade me not to receive further education so as to get married with rich men as soon as possible. To be honest, in terms of appearance, I am elegant, lovely and dignified; in terms of personality, I am easy-going, hard-working and patient. Besides, unlike other girls who step into society early, I am educational, pure and reasonable. I run after free love instead of being arranged by parents. In their eyes, I am foolish to reject wealthy men, who can help me lead a rich life. But I say that many businessmen are out drinking, embarking on fishing trips and generally enjoying their freedom, but women are stuck cooking for them, cleaning for them and running around after children. Hence, I want to marry a good boy that I am really familiar with and believe in. Although I was born in a small village, I enjoyed living and working in a big city, where I can make full use of my knowledge to make a living and travel around. As to this, my families strongly disagree with me, for they think girls should be married when they are at a certain age and become the responsible wives, do housework and give birth to children. On the contrary, I think it is quite necessary for us to be independent on ourselves and improve us in many aspects firstly. Besides, the marriage should be natural rather than deliberate. Recently, one of my nieces is starting her matchmaking business. As an excellent and independent girl, she has worked in society for 7 years and met different kinds of people. So she isn’t nervous to see boys introduced by matchmakers. But when the topics between two families are about houses, cars or deposits, she is always annoyed with them and leaves away. In her eyes, their conversations are too superficial, which is opposite to her standards of true love and partner.
