Car Games is an extremely popular niche in the flash gaming community. As in any niche, car games can be broken down into a number of different types. For the purposes of this article let’s list them as racing games, Disney Pixar’s Cars games, parking games, 3D games, and driving games. Each one of these categories has something unique to contribute to the niche as a whole and can be enjoyed by just about anyone. Let’s go ahead and discuss each category by defining them and possibly giving some fun examples of them! Let’s start off with racing games. Of course, these are the most common car games out there. How these games are alike pretty obvious: the player races other cars on some sort of track. However, there are some facets of these games that make them different from one another. Some are simply side-scroll racers while others use a top-down view. Some have boosts, and others have obstacles to dodge. The best ones, though, usually let you earn money to upgrade or buy a new car. The player gets to unlock new, more challenging tracks and obtain achievements. Therefore it’s easy to see that there are all kinds of different racing games to find and play online! Now we can discuss Disney Pixar’s Cars games. These are games based off of the beloved movies that we have all come to love. These are usually high quality games that take small parts of the movies with everyone’s favorite characters to give you fun objectives or tasks to complete to win. There are two really fun games that come to mind here. One is a game where Lightning McQueen is stuck in a ravine, and the player uses Mater’s towing winch to fish him out and save the day. Another game has the player drive Lightning McQueen through a field scaring tractors and running from Frank the combine. There are other games that have colorful puzzles of movie posters or pictures of the characters from the movie that you can color and print. 3D Car Games are usually just a different type of racing game. As you would suspect, they are 3D, not 2D. The camera is usually behind the car, and the player moves from side to side to pass the other cars, get boost or money, or to dodge different kinds of obstacles. The landscape might be rural or urban, but there are hardly ever any hills; it’s almost always flat. Sometimes you don’t race, and your objective might be to destroy the other cars with some sort of weapon. Driving games is a category where games belong that basically don’t fit in the other Car Games categories. They could include games with obstacle course where you have to survive as long as you can as you drive across rugged terrain or games where you do stunts or have to figure out how to make it through puzzling brain teasers or other more destructive car games. Parking games is the last of our distinct categories and is very easy to understand. We could assume that they share the top-down or birdseye view, and you usually utilize the arrow keys on your keyboard to control the car that you are parking. You have to park the car while being timed without bumping it into too many obstacles. The only real difference in any of these car games in this category is what kind of cars you are supposed to park. These games could get old pretty fast.
