“Life, what do you look like?” I asked. “On one autumn when you were still a child and walked on the way to your grandma’s home with your little partner. Then you found a kind of plant with five pink flowers unexpectedly, and the older generation told you it was Anemone vitifolia. Both of you were happy to pick some in your hands and capered in the meadow. Afterwards, you became closed friends and shared happiness and sorrow together. Now when you see it, you will unconsciously think of that autumn and your friend, then you will feel warm but sentimental at the same time.” The life answered. “Yes, I feel warm and sad.” I admitted. “The reason why you feel warm is that the friendship has been engraved deeply in your heart. The reason why you feel sad is that you separate from each other with no reasons. At first, you thought it was temporary, maybe both of you needed to adjust yourselves. But later on your friendship gradually became thin because of long distance and time. As a consequence, you have become ordinary friends so far. Am I right?” Life continued. “Yes, the fact is the same as you said. Do you look like this?” I said. “No, I don’t. On one summer, you dropped out and went to Guangdong with your uncle to start your career of working for others, but everything wasn’t easy as you expected. After moving around from place to place, finally you realized that it was a mistake to give up schooling, but it was too late. Then you started missing those classmates, teachers and the past school life. At the time, you feel happy but painful, do you?” The life answered. “Yes, I do.” I said. “But it was impossible for you to lead carefree school life, so you started reassess your life and wanted to work well to enjoy life like common people. Hence, you dialed your uncle’s telephone and thought everything would have a new beginning, but you didn’t realize that the adult’s world was different from that of child. Instantly, disappointment, suffering and regret surrounded you, but you still cheated yourself that time would change everything. After several temporary but tedious months, you heard nothing from your uncle. At the time, you got it and fell into deep pain, because you couldn’t see your future.” Life said. “Yes, you are quite right.” I said. “Then do you know what I look like?” Life asked curiously. “In my opinion, you are the combination of happiness and suffering, aren’t you?” I said. “Yes, but not intact. Happiness and suffering are two major parts of me. Do you know? The reason why you are painful is that once you were happy; the reason why you are happy is that once you were sad. When you undergo suffering, you will also find the existence of happiness and learn to cherish happiness, and when you experience happiness, you should learn how to face pains bravely.
