"The bodies of three labourers -- identified as Shaheed andMohammed Haroon, both residents of Siroli village in Haryana, andone Rajnesh belonging to UP -- have been taken out from the debrisby 8 pm. Rescue operation is still on as more labourers arebelieved to be trapped," said ASP, Bhiwadi, Himmat Singh. SP, Alwar, Umesh Dutta said that an investigation has been orderedinto the incident. "A review of arrangements made to check illegalmining has also been initiated," said Dutta.
Meanwhile, locals alleged that illegal mining is being carried outwithout any fear of law. Several houses developed cracks recentlyowing to explosions in the mines to crush stones. The bodies of the deceased have been handed over to the familymembers after post-mortem. "We are trying to ascertain as to howmany labourers were working at time of the mishap.
No one was foundon the spot when police reached there," said the officer. In Rajsamand district, a block of marble stone came crashing onthree labourers working in a mine in Kelwa's Jhanjhar village. Themishap occurred around 11 am. "The labourers were cutting a marblestone block using equipment when a portion of the block slid down.Three labourers were buried alive," said SHO, Kelwa, MahaveerSharma. There are three leases for marble mines in the name of differentindividuals in the area.

Locals said that a similar accident hadtaken the lives of three labourers eight months ago.
