In the 1940s, many happy families were broken up by long-term war and they had to leave their homes. At that time, he was only 16 years old and his parents were killed by precipitate shells after making the steamed bread. As a result, he had nothing but the ten steamed bread. Carrying simple luggage, he left his hometown and asked his relatives for help. There were vulnerable people here and there on the way, and many of them died because of hunger or coldness. He carefully carried those ten steamed bread and was reluctant to eat them, which were his total food for half a month. When he passed by a village, he took some water and found a young girl fainting besides the well, because she was hungry. Hence, he immediately took a steamed bread out. After coming to herself, the girl asked him, “Did you walk to visit your relatives like me?” He nodded and took five steamed bread for her. When saying good-bye to each other, the girl pulled his head and said to him passionately, “If the war ends and both of us survive, please find me and I am willing to get married with you.” When the anti-Japanese war ended, he wanted to look for her, but unexpectedly he was caught by KMT soldiers and became an able-bodied man. After the defeat, KMT was back to Taiwan. Fifty years later, everything underwent great changes and he became a white-haired old man, but he never married. During these 50 years, he attempted to look for her many times, but never heard of her. With the help of several college students, he took a long journey of looking for her again. From Hunan province to Guizhou province, he searched everywhere one by one, eventually he stopped in front of an old house, which was made of granite and filled with paper cuts. Then anold lady walked out with a pile of paper cuts, and he couldn’t help bursting into tears when catching sight of her. “I wait for you for fifty years although many people want to introduce marriage partners to me, but I couldn’t love other.” She said. “I look for you for fifty years day and night.” He said.
