Devotees flock to temples in Kerala – like the Guruvayoor temple, Shri Padmanabhaswami temple, the Sabarimala temple and the Vadakkunnathan temple. These temples are decorated with mural paintings, stone carvings and displays of arts and culture. There are also periodic displays of its many dance forms. Kathakali is quite famous, but the earliest form of Kerala art – Koodiyattam is lesser known. It is likely one of the last surviving displays of Sanskrit drama today. So be sure to take in the culture and arts of Kerala when you visit. But without a doubt the most attractive part of Kerala are its backwaters. The Vembanad lake, the largest backwater in Kerala, runs through three districts and is a famous spot for relaxation. You can rent a boat to wade through these backwaters. There are boats which have not only a navigator but also a cook – these are boats which are transformed into floating house-boats. Depending on the number of people wishing to ride, and the size of the boat, the prices of these rentals differ. So why hesitate?
