Why Carpet is Prone to Stains

Home Improvement,Fashion & Cosmetics,Current Affairs
Texture and materials determine the feeling of a carpet; but also the extent to which dirt and germs adhere to it. As we all know, our carpet is so prone to stains. Carpet get stains often times since it is exposed to people as it is on the floor which we are walking on every day.

Our carpet can get lots of stains if we have kids. You know, kids always want to play. And they are not that aware of what they are doing. Sometimes they are eating foods and then throw it wherever. So, our carpet then gets stains. The more it is exposed to usage, the greater chances for our carpet to accumulate stains from different kinds of carpet stain sources.

Either made of natural or synthetic fibers, carpets come in a variety of textures and materials. Cleaning always depends on the nature of the materials being treated. Professional cleaners, for instance, know that carpet manufacturers use several types of fibers and that each type poses different cleaning challenges. Most people, however, cannot differentiate nylon from acrylic or polypropylene fibers. Most carpets, for example, consist of at least two layers: a bottom sheet holds in place an upper stratum of knotted, woven or tufted fibers. Applying a heat treatment, manufacturers ensure that the fibers will retain their shape.

Most importantly, avoid buying white or light colored carpeting if you can. Darker colors show stains less frequently, and are typically easier to clean. Similarly, hardwood and laminate floors are preventative methods for avoiding stains.

Manufacturers choose fibers for economic and aesthetic reasons and take into account ease of dyeing, durability, resistance and costs. Natural fibers (long strands of material that can be found in plants and animals), for example, can be easily dyed, although generally more expensive than synthetic materials.

Carpet cleaners also must take into account the neutralizing effect of some bactericides and anti-static products. These chemicals have positive charge; if applied to a nylon carpet, they will only make it more prone to staining. Should you clean it yourself or hire professional janitorial services? As you can see, carpet cleaning is more complicated than it seems. If you need to clean a large area carpet, first find out what materials it is made. Then, pick the right detergent solution and use adequate rinse procedure.

However, if you have no idea of the type of fibers or if you feel unsure about the adequate products, call a professional cleaning company.

So before you get into a sticky situation with your carpet, remember that it could have been avoided. Staying on the defensive is the best type of action you can take to keep your home clean and smelling wonderful.

Carpet Protection

If you are prone to stains in your home or have light colored carpeting, there are benefits to carpet stain protection. If you find one that's effective and long lasting, when your child spills grape juice on your beige carpet, you're covered. This is because these protectors are resistant to dyes. Many of these products come with a warranty, giving you insurance in case the product doesn't work. These products can be used on rugs, carpets or auto upholstery, making it a versatile product that can really come in handy if you have pets or children. Another benefit of these protectors is that you have more time to clean a spill when it occurs because it won't immediately bleed into the carpet.

Having carpet stain protection doesn't mean that you can ignore spills and stains. You still have to remove the product just as you would on an untreated carpet. This includes blotting the stain to remove excess spillage and not rubbing the spill into the carpet. Wool carpets will require a special carpet stain protector. Protectors should be reapplied after each carpet cleaning, which is recommended to occur annually.
