New Zealand Skilled Migrant Category is a way to work and live permanently in New Zealand. If you are willing to apply then you should be a person • who can speak English • whose age is equal to or less than 55 • who has good character and • who is healthy If you have all the above mentioned qualities then you are eligible to apply under New Zealand Skilled Migrant Category. After eligibility check, you will be judged on the basis of certain parameters. These parameters allows immigration department to select the most suitable application. The parameters are as follows:- 1. age, 2. experience, 3. employability and 4. Qualifications. The visa approval application is a two-step procedure which includes:- • Submission of EOI i.e. Expression of Interest in which you will inform about yourself your family, your skills and your experience. • In case you score well and they accept your Expression of Interest then you will receive an invitation from New Zealand immigration department. New Zealand Skilled Migrant category allows you to include your partner and dependent children. In such cases partner and children are expected to meet the standards. To proof that you and your family is in good health, you will need to be accessed by an approve doctor same goes for your family. All the applicants primary and secondary should have good character. New Zealand immigration department don’t allow people with some serious criminal records. Language proficiency is another factor which decides the chance of your visa approval. If you are proficient in spoken and written English then you have better chances of visa approval. You need occupational registration to work in your chosen profession under the Skilled Migrant Category. New Zealand immigration department selects some approved EOIs in every two weeks. If you meet the minimum eligibility then you must be willing to know the points scored by you in the Expression of Interest. Minimum points required are 100. With hundred points on you EOI your form goes in to the pool from which applications are selected in every two weeks. How can you claim points? Skilled employment: If you have a job or a job offer in New Zealand that needs specialist, technical, or management expertise then you can claim 50-60 points. If the job/job offer is in certain industries, or if your partner also has a skilled job/job offer then you can get bonus points. Work experience: If you have work experience of at least two years’ in the same field in which you have skilled employment, you can claim points for it. Recognised qualification: New Zealand immigration department award 40-60 points for a variety of trade certificates, diplomas, bachelor’s degrees and post-graduate qualifications. You can get bonus points for qualifications, as well. Age: New Zealand immigration department gives a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 30 points for age. You must be under 55 years. Close family: You can get 10 points if you have close family with New Zealand residence. The fee for New Zealand skilled immigrant category expression of interest online application is NZ$510 or NZ$650 for paper EOIs. Paper EOIs cost more because it needs more processing when compared to online EOIs.
