We can’t think about Thanksgiving Day without imagine in the first place a delicious and good looking dinner, prepared with the best ingredients. For some people, first thing that come into their minds at Thanksgiving is meeting their old friends or sending Thanksgiving cards. For others, the most important moment of the holiday is a football match. And for many of us, the first thing on the list for this day is to prepare a huge meal for friends and relatives, or to visit their friends who engaged in preparing this awesome dinner. Although we don’t have to become those people who attend at so many dinners, passing from a host to other and eating from everybody’s plates. But if we are the one who prepare the food for guests, we have to be glad with the effort we put into some spectacular results. Planning ahead is the best way of transforming Thanksgiving into a successful holiday. First of all, you have to decide ahead of time what you will eat and how much. The best way you can fill a dish is half with vegetables and half with turkey or other meat and starches like mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing and bread. Maybe you have prepared some appetizers to serve before the main course. Then, you should focus on the raw vegetables and avoid cheese or crackers. The snacks based of fibres are the best choice and they are also delicious. The table should be filled with every type of food you and your guests like. But remember do not overfill the plates. If the guests sate after the first course, the rest of the food you made you will have to throw away or offering to the poor. I don’t say it’s a bad thing, but maybe you consider cooking for family in the first place. For dessert, small pieces are also recommended, whether is a pumpkin pie or cake. Cut thin slices and make sure that everybody will get one. The high calorie sweets should be avoided and you should opt for home made sweets. But don’t forget that children’s behaviour is highly influenced by the amount of sugar they eat. If you let them empty every plate of cupcakes, they will probably start a mini-war in your yard, not entirely without consequences. At least, remember every second the reason for celebrating this holiday. Thanksgiving is a day you have to share with loved ones, to be thankful and celebrate with food but not only. Enjoy every course, while you’re preparing and eating but don’t focus only on the job you do in the kitchen. Take your time to talk to the old granny and even your partner or children.
