Some Facts About Ganoderma And How It Can Be Used

Health
Ganoderma is a type of mushroom that is polypore, meaning that it does not have an obvious stalk. The mushroom grows on wood in tropical areas of the world. Other names for this particular type of mushroom is shelf mushroom or bracket fungi. The term Ganoderma is derived from Greek, translating to "shiny skin". It was given its name in eighteen eighty-one by Petter Adolf Karsten, a fungi expert.

This type of mushroom is large and leathery to the touch. It can grow either with or without a stem, and its shape is often reminiscent of a fan or hoof. The mushroom can be found on the trunks of tree both living and dead. Its layers on the inside are anywhere from brown to yellow in range.

The species has long been a part of traditional Asian medicine. Within the genus, there are eighty different types of mushroom. This makes it a valuable species in an economic sense.

Ganoderma's amazing potential as a therapeutic product is being developed. Its antioxidant levels are good for combating disease and signs of aging, while other notable properties make it an important supplement in fighting cancer. Additionally, it protects the liver and combats unwanted bacteria, lowers cholesterol and raised blood pressure, and also helps sufferers of fatigue.

In ancient Chinese medicine, this mushroom is called lingzhi. In Japan, its name is red reishi. All over Asia, it is known as a source of longevity and health. It is a natural way to boost immunity and also to build stamina. The mushroom reduces inflammation and has also shown to work towards relief from urinary tract symptoms.

Because of its ability to improve the immune system, reishi is now being touted as a natural way of treating the effects of cancer, as well as HIV. In certain studies, reishi has shown to reduce the growth of cancer cells. However, when used in conjunction with certain medicines or other natural treatments, the mushroom can have side effects, which makes it important to consult with a professional when deciding to incorporate it into one's routine.

You can use red reishi as a supplement in a capsule or in a liquid extract. These can easily be found anywhere that sells health food and supplements. You can also ingest the mushroom in your tea or coffee, but note that the taste is bitter. Also note some side effects that can occur as a result of taking red reishi: dryness of the throat and nose, nausea and problems in the gastrointestinal region.

The Ganoderma mushroom has over four hundred nutrients in its body, and as much as two hundred in its roots. The nutrients are made up of proteins, vitamins, minerals and enzymes. The mushroom's adaptogen nature means that it can flush out toxic cells. It can also restore the body to its proper pH balance, which is good if you lead a hectic life that can often be stressful and stop you from eating properly, which in turn can cause all sorts of illness to develop.
