Dharamshala - The Best Hill Spot for Travellers to India

Travel & Tourism
Those who love nature and enjoy exploring exotic avenues which are eternally blessed with extreme of natural beauty must visit Dharmshala, in Himachal Pradesh of India. The place is so serene and rich with natural environment that you can hardly resist extension of your holidays, after reaching here. Dharmshala is a municipal council under Kangra district, northern part of India. Its exotic culture and quaint old monasteries are among the top peculiarities of the place. Situated at an elevation of 1457 meters, the city is spread in approx 29 km range. It is nestled in the lap of Dhauladhar range of mountains which are mostly covered with magnificent snow. Besides forests rich with deodar and pine trees attract most of the tourists. The place is also studded with several tea gardens which make its hills greener at all times of the year. Numbers of streams sprouting from the snowy mountains fills the whole environment with the most coveted cool breeze. The place has been the habitat of Tibetan these days; who mingle holy aura to its already serene environment and make it a perfect for spiritual travellers too.

If you are visiting Dharmshala first time, there are some very popular tourist sites which you must not miss. They include Bhagsunag falls – just 11km from the town, it is famous for an old temple, and water streams. Dal Lake – just 10km from the town, it’s the lake surrounded with deodar and Fir trees, which give it a picturesque view. McLeod Ganj – the place is also called as little Lhasa, it is more famous as the home of Tibetan spiritual guru Dalai Lama. With the availability of monasteries and statues of Buddha, the place becomes a perfect place to meditate for those in pursuit of spiritual improvement. Jawalamukhi Temple – the strange thing is that there is no idol to worship in this temple. It’s devoted to the goddess of flames, who is present here in the form of blue flames coming out of the rocks naturally. St. John Church – It contains tomb of Lord Elgin, a viceroy to India during British rule. The place is easy to approach and worth seeing for its artistic elegance. Kunal Pathari – known for its rock temples, this is a place of local deities. You can experience local traditions and activities being practiced most often here. War memorial is also a place worth visiting while you are there.

There are several types of accommodations available. There are some very popular resorts cosily nestled in the picturesque Dhauladhar range. Many of these resorts provide you full opportunity to experience the natural settings of the locality even during your stay there. Some of them are even offering luxury cottage accommodation to help you experience the exotic environment your own way. Some of them are running their own websites where you can book your preferred package online without involving any external agent; hence save on the cost. However, make sure that you are contacting direct to resort; instead of any of booking agents, even if doing it online.
