We all know that omega-3 acids are necessary for health. But very few people know what exactly qualities this acid has. In this article I’m going to reveal some secrets. Studies show that people who eat products rich for omega-3 acids have lower risk of having Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers surveyed 1,219 people over 65 years old, and studied their diet for more than 1 year. They scientists tested participants, and found out that people who consumed products rich for omega-3 acids had lower risks of falling a victim of Alzheimer’s. Dr. Nikolas Scarmeas says: “We know that the amyloid mechanisms are out of control in a person with Alzeimer’s disease. We wanted to see if different nutrients influenced those levels.” Another research that has also has been held recently shows that people whose diet lacks omega-3 acids have higher risks of accelerated brain aging. Dr. Zaldy S. Tan says: “People with lower levels of omega-3 fatty acids had lower brain volumes that were equivalent to about two years of brain aging.” As we see, diseases connected with slow brain activity and brain aging are connected with a diet poor for omega-3 acids. According to the research, people who don’t get enough omega-3 acids have 25% lower scores in solving different tasks on logics and abstract thinking. Beta-amyloid is a protein connected with memory loss problems and Alzheimer’s disease. People who consume omega-3 acids lower level of this protein in their blood. Dr. Scarmeas says: “The more you eat, the lower the amyloid level will be.” Nuts, fish, tuna, eggs – all these products are rich for omega-3 acid. The best source of this acid is salmon and other kinds of red fish. An interesting thing is that omega-3 is the only nutritient that lowers amyloid levels in blood. In 2010 there was held a study showing that people who keep to the diet rich for omega-3 acids, had 40% lower risk of having Alzheimer’s comparing to people who did\t consumer as much of this nutritient. Soy beans, vegetable and canola oils, spinach, walnuts, salad greens are also great sources of omega-3 acids. Sea foods are considered to be champions in the richness for omega-3. Sure, the best option is to get these nutritients from natural products. Although, additional supplements, that can be easily found in any drugstore, are also effective. But before taking them you’d better consult a doctor as there may be an interaction with other meds. Parents should watch their kids’ diet and provide them with necessary amounts of products rich for omega-3. Children and seniors are the main target group that needs these nutrients. By the way, if you see that your child experiences problems with studying, feels broken and inactive, add products rich for omega-3 into their diet. Besides improving brain functions these elements also improve mood and reduce symptoms of depression. During cold seasons when our body and immune system is week must be consume more sea foods, nuts and spinach.
