The importance of wedding sarees and sherwani

Business
Couples have to take many decisions so as to have the perfect wedding day and nothing should be left to chance. Apart from having to choose the food, table arrangements, flowers and wedding location, there is one aspect that can turn the Indian wedding into a fairytale: the bridal clothing. In most cases both bride and groom want to respect their cultural heritage and go for the traditional wedding sherwani for men and saree for women. These two garments have a very long history and have been an integrated part of all weddings for over 4000 years. Besides, with Indian fashion designers now planning to promote these designs on an international level, the trend will definitely not disappear. And indeed, this type of clothing has a beauty that has endured for millennia and deserves to be known worldwide. Women in particular are very excited about the idea of wearing wedding sarees or lehengas and put their heart and soul into choosing the best model that makes a statement about their personality and cultural identity. In fact, surveys conducted in the clothing market show that the majority of brides would never wear anything other than a bridal saree for the best day of their lives. By taking a look at the uniqueness of the Indian wedding apparel, it becomes obvious why its importance spans around thousands of years.

The story of wedding sarees intertwines with the Indian history and civilisation. The most basic designs go back to the dawn and of Indian culture and ever since then they have evolved into works of art. Leaving aside their story, bridal sarees are obviously chosen for their aspect as well. Their charm resides in their simplicity and versatility. Unlike traditional dresses they do not have fixed sizes and are very easy to wear. This way, brides spend less time on adjustments and fittings. The variety of designs being great, there are many options to choose from. Indian silk sarees can be shorter or can reach up to five meters in length. The details, handmade with care, also look stunning and give the garment an enchanting touch. Depending on the way in which it is worn, a saree can look either decent and graceful or elegant and seductive. Either way, the bride will be the centre of attention.

The masculine equivalent of the saree is the wedding sherwani, another traditional Indian coat that is knee-long and has buttons in front. Usually made of silk, the outfit is often completed by matching mojaris or turbans, accompanying the splendour of the feminine design. To keep up with modern times, the models have become more and more complex in terms of patterns and fabrics, but at their basis is the same Eastern elegance. In fact, the one word that can accurately describe Indian sherwani is royalty.

India has a very strong bridal culture and sherwani and party wear sarees are a part of it. Both these types of bridal garments are very personalisable, the fabrics and embroidering being very diverse. Depending on the preference, region and theme of the wedding, the clothes can be a mixture between old and new. Now you can also find wedding sarees online, so you can save a lot of time and look through many online galleries.
