Are ongoing controversy about the fact that in Italy to rent a boat, hire it and also the place in a port are subject to VAT of 21%, as opposed to camping and hotels where the VAT charged is only 11%. This situation together with other elements, can put into serious difficulties the italian boat tourism, considering the fact that in France the taxation applied to boats amounts to only 9%, whereas it does not apply to the charter boats.
Precisely to counteract these and other difficulties, in Italy are ongoing steps to make nautical life easier for boaters and facilitate tourists visiting the ports with their tools and related services. These interventions are necessary, as the ports can be considered as inputs that allow access to the area and help to promote the provision of services and events dedicated to tourism in general. To improve the situation it will be necessary to raise the quality level of boating, then engage the marinas under the environmental aspect, and optimize services within the circuit of the various port areas, so enhancing the efficiency of marinas.
The economic and historical value of Italian ports is indisputable and it is perhaps for this reason that the most powerful European company marinas are investing time and money in Italy. The company has under its control, twenty marinas in the United Kingdom and at present three in the Mediterranean Sea, and this investment is a clear sign of the desire to strengthen its business in the seas around italian areas. This can only be good news for boating in Italy where despite the difficulties, they continue to invest money and technological innovation.
