The Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test (UMAT)is formed by Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). It is an entrance exam taken by candidate who wants to study dentistry, medicine, veterinary, pharmacy science etc. at the medical university. Every year thousands of students sit for this test, but many ignore to develop a goal and study plan while preparing for this test. Goal making and study plan are small things but it may increase your chance of success. Following are their importance- Goal Making: Goals are very important in one’s life. As it is said “Goals are the fuel in the furnace of achievement.” You can only achieve success in UMAT, if you aim for it. One can rarely achieve success without an aim. In order to get admission in the best pharmacy college your focus should be completely on your studies so that you can clear the test. You must have the ability to concentrate and use your time efficiently. The best way to channel yourself toward your goals is by writing it at different places and seeing it whenever you can. You can write your goal as “I have scored (whatever scores you wish to achieve) in my UMAT exam (the year you are giving your exam). It is very important to write your goal in present tense. Write your goal in your text book, stick your goal written on a paper on your study board, you can also make a wallpaper of your goal in your cellphone or computer screen. Sticking goal everywhere will always remind you of your goal. This will consciously and subconsciously channel your activity accordingly. Study Plan: Making a study plan is very important for UMAT. Decide upon how much time you would invest on studies every day. Start with studying for few hours a week and gradually increasing your hours with the passing week. Make your study plan accordingly and stick to it. There are various benefits of making a study plan, provided you stick to it such as- • Studying with a plan helps in removing the complexity related to your study and builds confidence. • It also helps in allocating time for different subject will help you focus on each and every subject. • You will be able to complete your work on time. After being fully determined to fulfill your dream of becoming a Doctor, make an effective study plan. You can take help of your teacher or any other expert in determining your study plan. Thus we find these small activities can make big changes in our life and help you clear UMAT.
