Dear friends, do you know how to build a tile tub and shower in the daily life? As we know, the tile that surrounds a tub-shower area is meant to look good, but just as importantly, it has to protect the stone wall from the most high-moisture area of the house. Tile is a favorite choice because it provides that protection, plus it's easy to clean and comes in many colors and styles. Whatever color or style you choose, the basics are the same, including the importance of caulking around the tub where it meets the tile, instead of grouting there, because that area can move, which will crack grout and admit moisture. Instructions as follows: Firstly, measure across the width of the longest wall behind the bathtub and mark the middle. Make a vertical line from the tub to the ceiling, using your level and pencil. Secondly, spread thinset mortar along the bottom of the wall from end to end, starting at the tub rim and coming up on the wall by more than the height of tile. Thirdly, press the first tile into place on one side of the vertical center line that you marked, putting spacers below it to separate it from the tub rim. Put the second soapstone tile on the other side of the vertical line, placing spacers between the tiles. Fourthly, build the row of tiles out along the whole span of the tub, putting spacers between and below them. Do the whole bottom of the wall, cutting the tiles at the ends on your tile saw as needed. Fifthly, spread additional mortar up the wall and hang the rest of the tiles row by row, starting each row in the center and working out toward the ends. Use the quartzite tile saw to cut the tiles around the shower fixtures. Repeat for each wall. Sixthly, let the mortar set for a day. Pull out all the spacers. Seventhly, grout the tile, spreading the grout onto it with a grout float. Force the grout into the lines between the tiles, while scraping it off the surface. Don't grout the bottom line between the tub and the tiles, leaving the space there, but grout everything else. Use a damp sponge to wipe up excess grout. Eighthly, let the grout set for a day. Caulk the line between the tub and the tiles. Let the caulk set for a day before using the tub.
