Planning a trip to Thailand? Here is all you need to know about the Visa procedures in a nutshell. Visa application is possible in the categories of Tourist, Transit and Non-Immigrants. Indian residents and foreign nationals both can apply for visas. The applications can be submitted at any of the five centers across India, viz., Delhi, Chandigarh, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. The ones submitted in New Delhi and Chandigarh will be assessed by The Royal That Embassy-New Delhi, and those submitted in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore will be assessed by The Royal Thai Consulate general-Chennai. The Thailand Visa application center at New Delhi also accepts the Visa application from Agra, Amritsar, Dehradun, Ludhiana, Jaipur and Jalandhar. The Application Form can be downloaded from Thailand tourism official website and further queries on the Visa application procedures can also be clarified from the website. Applicants applying for the Visa at Delhi or Chandigarh application center must pay the visa fee by a demand draft favoring 'The Royal Thai Embassy' payable at New Delhi. Those applying at Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad must address the demand draft favoring 'The Royal Thai Embassy' payable in Chennai. Alternate payment options are available at the application centers at a service charge of Rs. 56/- per application. The Royal Thai Embassy suggests that before applying for a Visa, to ensure that you have a clear 'purpose of visit' - the officials at the Thai Embassy are not permitted to advise you about the choice of the Visa category. Also, make it a point to double-check the specifications of the photo before submission of the passport. Address the application to VFS officer with the applicable documents as per the category of Visa you are applying for. If your Visa Application form is not complete or the documents you bring along are inadequate, you will be requested to rectify the same and then collect a fresh token to submit your application. You must pay the applicable Visa Fee in demand draft mode and the Service Charge in cash mode while submitting your application. You also have the option to collect your Visa through courier by paying Rs.200/- extra. Do not forget to collect your acknowledgement receipt which has to be provided at the time of collection. Tracking your application is easy. You could either visit the website track.html and type in your receipt number and Date of Birth. You also have the option of calling the Embassy on the helpline numbers (0120-6641075 for North India and 044-32988660 for South India), or sending an email on infothai.northin@vfshelpline.com (North India) or infothai.southin@vfshelpline.com (South India). Visa application is not allowed on Public Holidays and other days specially mentioned on the website.
