Dear friends, do you know what things to decorate in the tomb stones in the daily life? As we know, tombstone graves are decorated with a wide variety of objects, ranging from fresh floral bouquets to family photographs. Decorative items often reflect a particular season, specific holiday, a favorite hobby of the deceased, military affiliation, beloved pet, field of work or religious preference. Guidelines for tombstone decorations can vary from state to state and even from city to town. In addition, cemeteries operating under the auspices of a religious entity, such as the Catholic Church, enforce their own decorating restrictions. Holiday Decorations Tombstone gravelcan be decorated at various times of the year in celebration of specific holidays. Favorite items for the Christmas season include red or white poinsettias, small evergreen trees, holiday wreaths, miniature Santas and silk flower arrangements with winter berries or bare branches covered with faux snow. Easter tombstone decorations often feature spring flowers, especially Easter lilies and daffodils, crosses, bunnies, purple colored ribbons, baskets and ornamental eggs. For Valentine's Day, graves can be decorated with a red floral arrangement or heart-shaped items. Military Decorations Military decorations can be placed in a tombstone anytime of year. Memorial Day and Veterans Day are especially popular occasions for adding this type of recognition to a gravesite. The American flag, a favorite decorative item, is available in small sizes appropriate for a tomb. Many come mounted on wooden or bronze poles for easy planting in the ground. Other military grave decorations include plaques commemorating military service in specific branches or wars, including World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Persian Gulf War. Grave Blankets Once a popular tradition primarily in the Midwest, placing a blanket over a gravesite occurs today in many other regions of the country. Because colder seasons make it impractical to leave fresh flowers in a tombstone year-round, blankets offer an alternative means of decorating a loved one's grave. Available in various sizes and shapes, grave blankets are usually large enough to cover the entire gravesite area. Blankets can be handmade or purchased from florists and evergreen nurseries. In-Ground Plantings In addition to fresh floral bouquets, shrubs and other small plants bring a natural touch to tombstone decorations. Popular choices for gravesite plantings include low-growing evergreen trees, berry bushes and seasonal flowering shrubs. A border planting such as phlox is a fitting choice because it grows low to the ground. However, because phlox spreads, it requires repeated trimming to prevent it from extending beyond the gravesite.
