Dear friends, do you know how to refinish old bathtubs in the daily life? As we know, an old, worn-out tub can make a shower room look dirty and out of date. Nothing says outdated like an olive green bathtub. Instead of ripping out a functional tub, simply refinish it to give it a new look. The project will save you hundreds of dollars over the cost of purchasing a new bathtub, as well as the time and hassle of having to rip out the tub. Set aside a weekend to complete this project, and you could enjoy your refinished bathtub by Monday. Ok, now I am ready to share you with the detail instructions step by step as follows, and I believe you will benefit much from them! Firstly, apply a tarp and painters tape to items you do not want painted. This includes the bathtub fixtures and the floor and walls surrounding the tub. Secondly, put on your rubber gloves to clean the bathtub with muriatic acid. Use a scrub brush to remove all dirt and oils. Paint will not bond to a dirty tub, so do not skip this step. Thirdly, sand the bathtub evenly with a palm sander to remove the tub's glossy coating. This will allow the paint to bond to the surface of the tub and help the finish last longer. Fourthly, apply the bonding agent with a spray bottle to the entire surface of the bathtub, if you are refinishing a porcelain tub. Allow the chemical to dry completely. Fifthly, pour the primer into your paint sprayer's reservoir and attach it to your paint sprayer. Apply two light coats onto the tub, using a sweeping motion. Let the primer dry between coats. Sixthly, empty and clean the sprayer's reservoir with water. Refill the reservoir with high-gloss acrylic paint in the color of your choice. Reattach the reservoir to the spray gun. Seventhly, apply three light coats of acrylic paint, using the same sweeping motion. Let each coat dry completely before applying the next. Eighthly, allow the paint to cure for at least 24 hours before using the bathtub. This time allows the paint to fully bond to the tub and will extend the life of the new finish. Tips & Warnings Avoid painting mishaps by testing the spray gun outside on a piece of cardboard to ensure it is working correctly. Wear rubber gloves to protect your hands from harsh chemicals. Wear a respirator while working with the paint and chemicals to protect you from the fumes.
