Attempt to stem a rising casualty toll Boris plans unleash a cycling revolution on London

Boris Johnson provides care spending for the short cycle of the infrastructure of nearly £ 1 billion over the next ten years, which makes his promise to start a "revolution cyclist" in London.

The details of the investment will be indicated in the transport sector new business plan in London, which will be published Tuesday and voted by the Board of Directors of the transportation agency on December 12.

Hundreds of millions of pounds of spending on bike paths, bike park and road improvements would, says the mayor, set the level of investment in London on an equal footing with the most important cities for cycling such as Copenhagen.

Mr. Johnson is expected in the weeks to publish plans for a road corridor that runs east to west through the city and a network of bicycle lanes in the center of London.
Cycle groups have expressed concerns about the quality of much of the infrastructure in the streets of London, but Isabel Dedring, Minister of Transport, said that the new infrastructure will be built at a higher technical level and began to transform the capital.

"If we want to deliver the desire we have to do in a traditional way bike trip if we had the opportunity to invest accordingly, and this is a big step in that direction," he said.
"We have seen a dramatic increase in cycling and a change in the type of people who are on a bike. Castelli cycling jerseys This is why we need to see a transformation in terms of facilities that are provided."

The mayor plans to double spending until 2015 from £ 135 million in the TfL business plan of £ 268 million. TfL said the projected revenues from the metro station and bus fares, subsidies accepted and efficiency will already underway on this topic.

Mr. Johnson wants to spend another £ 640 million to £ 273 million in cycling over the past five-year plan called TfL. The £ 913 million budget relies on public contributions and rates staying flat efficiencies and continuous 2.5 percent. Womens Cycling Jerseys Mr Johnson said he would push for funding to maintain London during the next spending review.

Budget plans bike would continue to receive about 2 percent of the total budget of TfL. Ms. Dedring said there may be a case of funding even higher in the coming years, but we must first show that TfL is investing in the right kind of infrastructure. He said that the business plan for the next week would be a significant increase in capital investments on the wider road network.

The system of rental bikes and bicycle highways consumed the lion's share of investment over the past four years. Ms. Dedring said that if the rental system would still receive significant funding, "the largest proportion of the money is in the visible improvement of the road network." cheap cycle clothing New trails will be built, O redesigned signs improved structures built in the suburbs of London and 80,000 cycle parking spaces added.

The lady said that TfL Dedring was interested to find sponsors willing to invest in "iconic models in some places." He said: "We're not married to Barclays We are interested in who can give us the best deal. ".

The announcement follows criticism of the London Assembly, who last week called the mayor to double infrastructure funding cycle to try to curb a growing number of victims.

Injuries to cyclists has increased by 50 per cent compared to 2958 in 2006-4497 years. While the increase may be partly explained by the increasing number of cyclists, the Assembly Transportation Committee reported that the mortality rate in proportion to the distance increased between 2007 and 2010.

Mr. Johnson indicated that the proportion of trips made by bicycle double to 5 percent in 2026.
