The One Internet Marketing Strategy Every Business Needs

I see this all the time with new people coming online to start businesses. It also happens to those of us who have been in business for years. If you don't do something about it, it can literally cripple your business because you'll be all over the place. What I'm talking about is focus. If you want to get the most from your business, work less, and truly enjoy the freedom having an online business will bring you, then you need to focus on what you need to do.

This is especially important to those who are new to the internet marketing arena. It's so easy to get distracted. There's so much information available on the internet. Compound this with the fact that when you are first starting off, you're not sure what opportunity you want to choose, or what will be the fastest way for you to make money.

You don't have to do anything complicated to achieve focus. There are simple systems you can put in place to help you focus on your business. Below are some of my best tips and strategies for helping you get your business under control, as well as what to do if you are first starting out.

If you are first starting out, then the answer really is simple. Choose one business opportunity to start. You need to have an income goal in mind as different programs will help you achieve different incomes. If you're just looking to make a little extra money to make ends meet, programs will be a lot less expensive. More importantly, they will help you get started quickly, and you won't need to buy a lot of tools and other resources to build your business.

On the other hand, if you are looking to quit your day job, then consider something step by step. There are really only four legitimate business systems to choose from: creating your own products, selling others' products (affiliate marketing), MLM, and then services. Anything else is questionable whether it's gifting, surveys, or a whole host of other things I could name.

What are you passionate about? If you have a hobby, or some type of business expertise, these are great things to build a business around, and you will be doing something you like. Just choose one thing though.

For the more experienced, there are actually two things you can do. The first is to organize all those tasks you need to do. Make a list of all projects that need to be completed. What about your marketing plan? This is crucial to your success. Write it down. Use a personal information manager to organize these into projects and then write down the steps that need to be done. Choose one project at a time to complete, and then use the steps to complete it a little each day.

Writing down six things you want to accomplish each day is also effective. It helps you prioritize the most important things you need to get done each day.

When working, use a timer for what you are working on. Set a specific amount of time to complete each task, and work on only that task. Turn off the phone if you have to, as well as your browser and anything else on your computer that could cause you a distraction. The point is to do one thing, and one thing only when you are working. Your tasks will get completed much faster, and you'll be a lot less distracted and overworked.
