Keeping your home without the construction - Evaporator Tube - Refrigeration Tube

Business,Business News,Business Opportunities
With ductless air conditioning there's no central system with amaze of ducts in the attic. You could install a ductless systemduring construction, say, in a new addition that your existingcentral air can't handle. But it also installs in homes withoutdisturbing finished surfaces or framing. Ductless AC, introduced in the U.S.

in 1981 by Mitsubishi Electric, offers unobtrusive cooling for the 35 million U.S. homes withoutcentral air. How it works Ductless systems made by Carrier, Mitsubishi and others useconventional AC technology but rearrange the components. Gasconfined in Evaporator Tube is compressed and expanded in a cycle creatingcold temperatures in pipes facing inside and hot temperatures inpipes facing outside. In portables, the two sets of pipes come inone package.

In central systems they're separated: hot coils intheir own unit outside; cold coils inside where a large blowerpushes air over them and into ducts. With ductless, heat discharge is still outside. But twosmall-diameter refrigerant lines connect that component to an airhandler inside. It is mounted in the ceiling or high on the walland houses air filters plus a fan that blows cool air into theroom.

The refrigerant pipes, plus one to carry off condensation, might be snaked through an open attic. Most often they're runstraight out the exterior wall and down the siding. Even with pipeinsulation and a cover molding, the lines occupy less space than adownspout. Inside, there's also a control panel with a thermostat, though someunits come with remotes that make nearly noiseless changes in fanspeed.

The systems run quietly. They're also efficient, withseveral units carrying an EnergyStar rating, including heat pumpmodels that reverse the refrigerant cycle to provide heat inwinter. Ductless doesn't have the capacity of central air. ButMitsubishi says its single-zone units will cool up to 1,200 squarefeet and, with additional air handlers in a multi-zone system, upto eight rooms, each with its own thermostat. How it installs Capacity and a basic layout are determined by a Mitsubishi-trainedcontractor in a first visit.

We covered a lot of options —the most energy efficient, least obtrusive, most economical, cooling only or a heat pump — all worked up into a detailedinstallation plan. There are alternatives like optional locationsfor air handlers and different routes for refrigerant lines. Shortruns are the most economical. My project ran 61 feet, one story upthe siding and through a crawl space above the area to be cooled. But Mitsubishi says you can install the outdoor condenser 100 feetfrom the indoor evaporator, for example, cooling a front room andparking the outside unit at the back of the house.

Among other advantages, electrical power for one or more airhandlers runs in the same slender package as the refrigerant pipes,so there's only one bundled line into the house. Indoor units aremounted on rubber pads, so there's no vibration in the room. Evenwith the fan on high there's no noise from rushing air.Installations vary, but even when two or three air handlers areinstalled, a two-man crew is typically in and out in one day. Themain time-saver? No labor-intensive ductwork, including supplylines and bulky air-returns.

To install ductless, Mitsubishi estimates a cost of $3,000 for acooling capacity of 12,000 BTUs. Costs decline with larger-capacityinstalls where the units cost more but the labor is roughly thesame. F
