Our batch have been fortunate enough to have been taught by former President Jimmy Carter. He was a distinguished teacher of law who had taught us new methods of settling disputes. Professor Carter stood before the twenty five of us speaking about the values of mediation. During his presidential years, Carter worked this classic method of mediation to bring peace in Middle East by means of Camp David Accord which was negotiated among Menachem Began and Anwar Satadand for a very long period. This system is that of "Alternative Dispute Resolution". Irrespective of the fact that its law or politics, unresolved disputes result in wars. With the employment of this system of mediation, President Carter came out victorious in establishing peace between the two very repelling men. The technique of mediation has helped to alter the path of the Middle East history. When there is no wrong in a trial, they can, definitely, be used as the final process. When there is a trial, one wins while the other loses. But the cases are, mostly, far less transparent as there happens to be faults on part both of the plaintiff and the defendant. Cases are, generally, and must be resolved by means of settlement. There are, however, exceptions, as for instance, when there is a case of high value while the opponent does not put high value for that claim, and several of the cases have already gone for trial before the jury.
