When talking about protecting environment, we always think of forest and road, but few of us have the awareness of protecting transportation environment, but it need our attentions more and more. In the past fifty years, the explosive growth in urban population and car use has caused a heavily negative effect on the transportation environment. Now, actions should be taken on protecting it. Nearly 60% of the office workers choose to go to work by bus. Every morning, even in the middle size city in China, you can see countless people waiting for the same bus, some of them even running following the bus before it arrives at the stops, and they push each other with all of their powers, quarrels and steals happens very often in this moment. In order to save time, many people have breakfast on the bus; plastic bags are thrown here and there. This rubbish will not be cleared until the next day, so, people who take bus will feel uncomfortable. Besides, the irrational design of bus may leave few rooms for the passengers. Many people think the interior environment of bus is not very important, but it really has a gig impact on the passengers’ mood and the safe-driving. If the bus cannot provide a comfortable environment for the passengers, there will be more private cars bought. To build a better transportation environment, we need to protect the inner environment of the bus first, because only a good bus environment can decrease complains of bus, and many people will give up buy the private cars. All we know that, most of the traffic jam caused by excessive cars. They have taken over more and more room of the road; many of them even take over the sidewalk. In Chinese urban, we can hardly see the sidewalk, people there walking in the gap of the bus that has caused many accidents. About 90% of middle-class office lady said they will buy cars if the government takes no policy to resolve the public transport problems. Though, the cost of private car is high, most of them dream for their own car, one man said the public bus is too crowded and dangerous, there seems no bus will not overload. So, he and his wife work more than 12 hours a day to earn money for buying a car. He is running a crafts store online selling the cheap pom poms and small plastic jewelry bags, his wife makes gift bags like Christmas organza bags at night. He also said most of his friends hold the same dream, “you even can’t move in an inch in the bus” he said. All this show us that our government should at least do 3 things; the first one is perfect the planning of city roads, second, limit the private cars, third, increase public-transportation. Automobile exhaust pollution is a big problem in urban, the government should update the public transport such as public bus, taxi, and replace them of the vehicles which comply with the international environment standard. All buses should gradually be replaced by natural gas buses; taxes and private cars should be fitted with gas-fired system. Annual inspection should strictly enforced, Repair all non-compliance vehicles. Noise caused by the vehicles should be effectively dealt with, such as Install noise processor. Building better transportation environment need everyone’s effort. At present, we can’t remove all the pollution vehicles bring us, but with the development of technology, we will find a good way to solve the entire problem.
