North of Mauritius Island Tour

Travel & Tourism
Cobalt-blue waves and white sandy beaches, Mauritius is a luxurious slice of Paradise that conjures up images of tropical extravagance; thanks to all the Mauritius tour package pictures we’ve been fed since childhood. With its stunning sand-rimmed lagoons, popular wide public beaches and picturesque islands off the coastline, Mauritius holidays are tailor made for beach bums. And once you’re bored with the daily grind of beach and pool, the island is loaded with historic sights, cultural diversity, geographic variation and a horde of other distractions.

The Northern Coast of the island has seen the most development in recent times. The north has the most spectacular beaches that have inevitably led to this development. As the epicentre of the country’s tourism, all Mauritius packages will include this region with a bustling nightlife, some of the best restaurants and excellent shopping options. Grand Baie and Flic en Flac are the most popular destinations here. The small villages around Grand Baie, Trou aux Biches, Mont Choisy and Pereybère are growing at an incredible pace and all have wonderful beaches to enjoy, making them other obvious attractions in the region, to be included in your Mauritius Tour Package.

The north isn’t only about night life, however. Mauritius packages to the north also include some of the country’s best-loved sights, including the charming red-roofed church that overlooks the lagoon at Cap Malheureux. A visit to the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam (SSR) Botanical Gardens is a must famed for its giant Victoria amazonica water lilies, whose gargantuan leaves expand as wide as three metres in diameter, and for the amazing Talipot – a plant that flowers only once every 30 to 100 years. Inland a plain of sugar-cane fields, pocked with piles of volcanic boulders stacked by slaves and indentured labourers, slopes gently down to the sea. the rightly popular L’Aventure du Sucre – a museum dedicated to Mauritius’ traditional colonial export.

The lagoon, sheltered from the prevailing winds, offers a host of water sports and is particularly good for snorkelling and diving. Go sailing to one of the off-shore islands; you can join a yacht tour, a catamaran cruise or even charter a private launch at Grand Baie. Try kite-surfing and get trained in scuba diving, sign up for a journey on the Blue Safari submarine or Captain Nemo’s Undersea Walk’. Mauritius holidays are incomplete without a local souvenir from Comptoir des Mascareignes in Pamplemousses. Take your pick from an assortment of handicrafts, gift stands, local fashions, ship and plane models, paintings and jewellery.

Cap Malheureux, the island’s most northerly point, marks the current end of the coast’s development. Save a few resorts in Grande Gaube, there are no hotels until halfway down the east coast. If you truly want to experience the wild, this is the way to go!

So plan a tour to Mauritius and enjoy the fun of Islands in Mauritius. Browse a bunch of Mauritius holiday packages at WeAreHolidays and choose the best which can take you to your favourite destination.
