Garden stepping stones are a common material used to add architectural interest to outdoor spaces. Beyond simple use in stone paths, garden stones can also be repurposed for craft projects. With a little inspiration and elbow grease, stepping stones can be used as a versatile outdoor construction material for a number of crafty creations. Landscape Borders Using garden stepping stones to create landscape borders is a cinch. Create borders around any flowerbed or landscape element by placing stepping cubic stones vertically into the ground around the desired perimeter. Set half of each stone beneath the ground and half above the ground. Incorporate circle shaped stones for a border of half moons or use square shaped stones to create triangular shapes in your border. Different shapes and sizes can be combined to form a pattern. Use construction adhesive to attach decorative stones, shells or other embellishments to the outer edges of garden stepping stones. Exterior grade construction adhesive is easy to find in most hardware stores. While many other adhesives available, construction grade is a more suitable choice for outdoor items that will be exposed to harsh elements. Wear rubber gloves to protect your hands from the adhesive when applying. Allow for plenty of drying time, 24 hours to 48 hours, before handling. Add embellishments to the face of the stepping peculiar stone prior to setting the stepping stones in the ground. To do this, apply embellishments while the stepping stone is lying horizontal and allow to dry on a flat surface for at least 24 hours. Birdbaths Constructing a birdbath from stepping stones is a straightforward process. Attach ceramic or glass bowls of varying shapes and colors to the top of a stepping stone using construction adhesive, with your largest piece at the center. A circle shaped stepping stone would work best for a more traditional bird bath, though a square shape could be incorporated for a decidedly contemporary flavor. Use rubber gloves to protect your hands from the adhesive. Add decorative elements, like glass artificial stones, colored tiles or ceramic figurines, by attaching them with construction adhesive. Allow for plenty of drying time, at least 24 to 48 hours. The diversity of shapes, colors and sizes in your design is what will make your birdbath stand apart. Set the completed stepping stone on a garden pedestal, tree stump or garden ledge for an instant birdbath. Finally, let me have a conclusion.
